Is It Safe To Fill Water At Water Pump And Drink

I filled a canteen full of water at a pump and have no idea if it will give me cholera.
I do not have chlorine tabs on me so don't want to risk it by drinking from it yet lol.

If you disenfect the Canteen with alcohol than you are %100 good to go. When you find a canteen or pop bottle dump whatever is in it by having it in your hands and looking down at the ground to get a "pour"prompt.

Didnt even know that was a thing. I have NEVER disinfected my canteen or water bottle. I just empty them of the water they had. It must be very very rare to get sick from a dirty canteen/bottle as I didnt even know this was possible. You learn something new everyday.

@OP Wells are the safest way in game to drink water without preparing it. i.e. boiling it or using chlorine.

It is possible to get sick from the bottle and not the water if someone sick drank in that bottle and didn't disinfected it. So if you get sick, the best thing to do when you loose the sickness icon is to empty the bottle, disinfect it then refill it, or you'll get sick again 👌

You can't disinfected any items other than the one's used for treating wounds.

Water and food can become contamined when they're consumed while sick. The water you can purify or boil remove the disease, but the food you have to discard.

If you are filling your bottle/canteen from a well, you are safe to drink it without using your chlorine tablets. Save your Chlorine tablets for when you collect water from a stream or pond. When you get water from a stream or pond you want to treat if with your chlorine tablets. Also if you find a bottle/canteen that already has water in it you want to either dump it and get clean water from the wells or treat it with the chlorine tablets. :)

I had a canteen i nabbed from a zed.
It was 80% full.
Drank it as I was desperate and dying from dehydration.
Was really lucky i did not get cholera, as I was on red health, and surely it would of finished me off.

Dying from a player is one thing, Starvation and dehydration is another. Annoys me more imo.

The only real risk of drinking at a well is some one shooting you while you drink or fill bottle :). Good luck.

Not that small really, it's a 50% chance.

I wish some water bottles would spawn completely full, and would have a very small chance of cholera, or none at all. As if they were factory bottled and sealed.

I never chance bottles io canteens I find. I empty right away. unless I am desperate AND have chlorine.
