Barrels and Server restarts.... Explained and Researched

Are all servers persistent or are barrels just persistent items? And when a server restarts do the barrels stay? I am setting up a camp and need to know these things.

Persistence is on by default on all servers now...

Persistance may be on, but it degrades server performance. Most admins will wipe persistance once a day if they maintain their servers

barrels are persistant. will stay wherever you stash them, just like tents
BUT don't pack one up and leave it setting for very long or the disappear!! lost a military tent that way.

I read the comments and did some research, in backpacks, gear stays for 3 days then dissapears. Barrels and tents, 7 days then dissapears. If you interact with the object, you go back to 7 days and the loot stays.

Barrels and tents persist for 45 days currently. backpacks only last for four hours.

all my barrel's have dissapeared within 24 hours on private server's (5 at last count) needless to say,i don't collect them anymore.

Either someone found them or the admins wiped their persistence. The first is likely to happen, the second just means you need to find a better server.

Pacifist,due to the location's of the barrel's the latter explanation is more likely.I am trying other server's but have'nt found a barrel so far.

ive had barrels on a server sadly closing down for 4 weeks now and never lost anything so far so there is as pacifist says either someones raided as barrels are easy to find as is tents or the server has done a wipe ,usually the server will let you know they are wiping before the due date but thats on private server public i carry everything i need in my backpack and raid everyone elses tents and barrels safer than going to army bases lol http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=537358897

Currently every container is 45 days other than backpacks. It will be this way until .59 comes out.

Do you happen to know how long backpacks last? I like to use packs instead of barrels and I always use an improvised pack for myself.

Currently I have a hunting pack and a childs pack hidden in a town, and it's working so far. I made an improvised pack that got hidden near the other, but that disappeared within 30 mins or an hour maybe. Lost a 1911 but meh.

Either a glitch, or I'll just stick to actual backpacks.

4 hours. I believe the improvised pack only lasts 1. Like all items, if you interact with it it is supposed to reset the timer.

Wow thanks for the heads up!! My child's pack had disappeared too, and only the hunter pack is left. Guess I'll stick to using that for now on.
