EDIT: I also pack a pistol, so if I spot another player close enough not to warrant a rifle shot, I'll use the pistol to get a close head-shot so as not to ruin gear, but a shotgun is the best for dealing with surprise guests, IMO.
Very short barrel + 9mm cartridge means low recoil, plus the compensator+forward handgrip+red dot sight makes for a very formidable close quarters small arm. The sound of it sends chills down my spine. Sounds like tearing paper.
The AKS-74U is convenient for using the soviet rifle ammunition - combine with an AK74 for an all round combat capability.
UMP 45? if you want a very hard hitting CQB gun this is your best bet. Need to be ready for that recoil though, short bursts only.
MP5 for me.

MP5 is a close second, and its definately easier to find. Also has more attachments and higest fire rate.
AK74-U is definately the easiest to find but the worst of the 3 in my opinion, but not bad by any means.
I personally go with whatever I get, because it takes a lot of time to hunt for the best weapon (as it should be).
