I wonder how this would. go? u would need to add the colors. Spray paint? and then there is the actual design faze, I think that would be very tricky. Importing a flag seems the most logical way but then you have copyright issues and snowflakes. (people offended by their own shadow)
Sorry, I just kinda liked the idea and how to break it down. I would go the extra step (because its a mod) and make custom patches as well that match my flag. as some of the better armor/clothing mods have the patches and places to put them.
Lastly I will add. you could also achieve this by contacting a mod author who already has a flag mod. i.e. country flags and collaborate with him to get it put in for you. Sending him the design and talking him in to doing it.

And I liked your break down of this topic! And you actually gave me a good idea how to try to do it, talking about the matter of copyright, I'm an artist so yeah! I just use my desing, thanks a lot for taking your time with your post :)
