in my small sample size i have 100% summer camo gear in about 10 items in my 2 man squad. with all that i reasoned in my OP then lets say that we would reasonably expect to see 50:50 summer to winter camo. from the small sample size and by the way you are describing it it sounds like its more like 1 in 100 items are winter camo. so are we saying winter camo is like NVG levels of rarity in a winter map when this is the opposite of what was suggested in the patch notes - that there is more winter gear on sakhal?
and the civilian gear doesnt look much better, i dont think ive found one warm jacket. now you would say "all the good loot is taken, its a survival game". but in a winter climate, i would expect to see pretty much all the clothing being warm gear, so if i found any clothing, it should be warm.
so looking into it they have added is 2 padded jackets, 1 civilian and 1 police, a ghillie winter variant, a patrol pants winter variant and the new winter gear is called OMK. I would maybe expected more different types of winter clothing but also that they spawn more often. I get that they want the game to be hard, but I don’t expect to find shorts and t shirt in a winter map.
playing on a community vanilla server (not official) so there is no shared hive / server hopping
i know but i don't think they do. as i understand it the commonly accepted way to express this is to advertise the server as vanilla loot+, which this server doesn't and in the server info it describes the changes from vanilla but doesn't list any changes to the loot system.
They obviously don't know, especially with the "the server may have changes" if they don't know, they shouldn't speak as if they do.
There shouldn't be any Summer type clothing in a "Winter" type DLC/Map. It should only have "winter type" clothing.
The hell you gonna do with Summer type clothing for the snow? sounds dumb to me. If they have "Summer" type clothing, I wonder if there is a desert/Summer type Map lol with nothing but heat.
Edit: I too thought the DLC only had winter clothing... guess I was wrong. They should list all the items (winter type) the DLC does offer and this "Summer" crap clothing.
not sure what youre on about here. they obviously know what they are doing with the server. im just saying that i myself cant be sure that the list of changes from vanilla that they have given are truthful or comprehensive but i have no good reason to doubt they are
So, the loot is unbalanced. Modded servers can be like that.
It's fine, you don't understand what I meant. No problem.
also game/character progression. tier1 shouldnt spawn best insulation pants/jackets.
however they added winter clothing on sakhal: the bushlat, omk jacket, down jackets, navy uniform and some winter variants and removed other summer variants (gorka jackets for example).
they actually do. i think u have to play a bit more and leave tier1.
Can you ski? would be cool to go up a snowy mountain and ski all the way down with some crazy ski movements. I am tired of the OG Maps and am ready for this map. Even if it'll kick my ass, I'd still be happy to see some snow fall with everything (mostly everything) covered in snow.
I was hoping they would just add a weather/seasonal system to the base game/maps. But I guess they'll release DLC for each. One is already Winter/snow focused, the next one Spring? Summer? idk, think of the weather system in "Don't Starve"
