Give me your tent secrets
I know buried stashes are meta and much easier to hide , however I've found a barrel and small tent to hide some stuff.

My friend wants to base-build but i'm trying to think of creative spots. I know the typical base spots, industrial , castles , barns and apartments and I always come across the carcasses.

The road least travelled but even then , sometimes you get lucky and find a tarp shelter.
I've put tents in "obvious" places and then I get lucky and no one is looking because low server pop or impending wipe.

whats the longest your stash has lasted ? , indefinitely?

I lived off a canopy tent for 1 week before someone found it. Wasn't even trying to hide it too much neither. It was between some green trees and I put a camo net on it. Hid nicely for the untrained eye. but it could definitely be seen distance. Just keep in mind every thing will be found.

The few times I’ve hidden tents they were either found or de-spawned earlier than the 45 days or whatever it’s supposed to be. One time I had 2 wooden crates sitting inside my tent and logged in to find them gone. Again, probably stolen (and even stole the crates?!) or de-spawned earlier than 14 days.

You can bury a barrel I’m pretty sure? Maybe try to hide the tent and keep the less-important stuff in it and put the more valuables in the barrel and bury it.

Don't think you can bury a barrel, not 100% sure as i have never tried myself.
On "officials" anyway.

100% correct, every stash can and probably will be found eventually,
especially on busy servers.
However, there are ways to make this harder.

can't bury a barrel. You can bury crates, treasure chests, and the bag made out of animal skin.

I have a spot on Livonia Official Server , where the infamous pain in the butt to deploy tent can be constructed .............. It lasted more then 5 months before this update wiped everything - It was the coolest and most amount of work carrying it all there but I too hate base building but love TENTS ! This was all just me on Official over 5 months https://youtu.be/F7XNLIwiH3U

Eventually they all had Camo netting and a 3rd tent was added in line with the others ... so much loot stashed there lolol
I've had pretty good luck with the stick improvised shelter as far as quickly making a stash that can be hiding in plain sight in groups of trees and shrubs. Sometimes a damaged green barrel can be slipped out of sight using the visual blocking of the shelter. The biggest issue is the official 'flatness' requirement for placing a shelter is infuriating when the slope is about 1/4 of a degree and will not allow placement.

Depends on the map, but for Chernarus, tents in the top floors of the large apartments are pretty safe, because most people don't bother going there, since no loot spawns in them.
-Gray medium tents or White canopy tents work best here, due to color blending.

The best stash is a mule. Anything else isn't worthwhile.

hey there brand new player here: i've seen people say you can sink barrels in water, that this is how they stash big amounts of guns.

"You can’t burry barrels. But sea chests, regular chest, dry bags and the other one and I’m sure some other stuff can be buried. Barrels no.."

Maybe they meant something else in the water because you can't sink a barrel. I would suggest trying things out before anything.

I read a post by someone that said fishing didn't work but it does (and I repeated that it wasn't even a functioning mechanic, which it is) and I wouldn't have known if I didn't try it for myself (found a fishing rod, got a hook+bait and went fishing, caught fish and was happy)

As for the Barrel thing, find one, take it and see if you can bury it or stash it in the water (if it isn't a sea chest)

The lazy/coward way of getting things. Be a man and don't be afraid to get every single piece of loot yourself.

You absolutely can drop a barrel in water .. and if you drop it just right, you can still open it to access inventory, while also not being able to see it very well if you don't know it's there.

You can also stick barrels inside inaccessible rooms through tiny cracks, but the OP's topic is Tents.
