Food stay frozen even when cooked - Sakhal (possible bug report?)
It happened two times with me when i was playing. I found a frozen food (the first time was a potato, the second a chocolate bar), and when i ignited a furnace, it wouldn't unfroze the food, the first time i died from starvation, the second time i got killed when stayed for 10 minutes straight waiting for the chocolate to unfreeze.

Was that on an official server or a modded community server?

Not seen that one yet.
It does seem to take a long time to thaw the first few times you do it.
I usually use at least a 3 stick fire to thaw a tin of food.
Gives plenty of time to get a decent heat buff as well.

So far I’ve only played Sakhal on a community server but at least a handful of times I’ve seemed to have issues with food thawing in or around fires.

Some items just seem bugged and simply do not change from “Frozen” no matter how long in the fire.

you just gotta wait longer

it may be a bug, but the FROZEN turns into Chilly after several minutes,
legit.

i think it'll be made faster soon

where did you put the food?
it thaws slowly if you keep it on the floor or in your inventory, but if you put it in the cooking slot it should be relatively quick. maybe a minute or two, but definitely not 10.

In my case, I tried in the cooking slot of a fireplace, on the floor, in my inventory……certain items just thawed fine while others never seemed to thaw…..but then eventually did.

So, I have around 60-80 hrs on official Sakhal and have had no issues.
Last night i played a community Sakhal server and guess what?
It FELT like it took longer but i can't say for sure.
I will try both tonite and time them.

i dunno what month is used on official sakhal, but the temperatures might vary on community servers if admins pick a different month. i assume it would take longer to defrost something with colder month settings (same with the timers for heatbuffs).

this are the vanilla temperature values on sakhal from january to december in celsius, with december being the coldest:

"environmentMinTemps": [-6.5, -9.5, -6.5, -9.5, 2, 6, 9, 10, 6, 1, -5, -10],
"environmentMaxTemps": [-3, -5, -3, -5, 9, 14, 16, 17, 14, 8, 1, -3],
