WTF DAYZ Shotguns are still too OP against plate carriers.

I sacrifice half of my stamina lugging around a plate carrier only to get shot ONCE buy a shotgun from 30m AND IT INSTANTLY KNOCKS ME OUT FOR 25 SECONDS. WHAT KIND OF ADVANTAGE IS THAT? BY THE TIME I WAKE UP THE DUDE IS ON TOP OF ME EXECUTION STYLE. WHAT KIND OF ADVANTAGE IS THAT? WHY AM I SACRIFICING HALF OF MY STAMINA WITH A PLATE CARRIER????????

whats the point on what you said? For me doesnt make any sense what you said, no one said its a death or life sentence the game not being balanced, neither is something new for me seeing unbalanced things coming from this game. I just ask him if he can explain the kinetic energy of a 308 sniper from 100 meter shot to see if it is supose to kill a player or not. That is not the point of a plate carrier. IDK who told you that. A plate carrier is designed to protect you from pistols, shotguns, and rifles.

Plate carrier covers your torso. A buck shot on target at range is gonna do serious damage. At close range even if every "buck" lands in a plate. Its gonna shred a plate carrier because its a close range bucks shot... Either way a plate carrier is not a good defence against shotguns. My advice is ditch the carrier. Being lightweight and agile is always the advantage to have.

Just another thought - maybe the designers wanted to find a small way of stopping fully geared players with plate carriers who feel they should be invincible going to fresh spawn areas to do some Bambi killing, so provided shotguns in said areas?

That is such a brain rot answer bro. Clearly you have no idea how plate carriers work. Either that or you are confusing them with kevlar vests (bulletproof vests).

I am not asking for the game to be call of duty. I hate call of duty and haven't played it since COD 4.

A plate carrier is designed to protect you from ALL handguns, ALL shotguns, and a vast majority of rifles. Most modern plate carriers are designed to stop up to 30.06 (7.62x54) unless you use AP rounds. I am extremely familiar with body armor and personally own a plate carrier.

I have been doing research on the topic for over a decade, so who tf are you to tell me to "do some research". If the game wanted to be realistic they are failing when it comes to body armor.

Plate carriers are rated to stop pretty much the largest small rifle ammunition possible This includes 556-545 308-762x39-762x54 30-06 and the list goes on I don't know what you're talking about when you think a single buckshot could penetrate a ceramic or steel plate a single buck from a buckshot is about the size of a 380 round That is a very small pistol caliber and it is not capable of penetrating body armor this includes even Kevlar vests 380 is the third smallest pistol round that you can possibly fire out of a gun

The problem is that dayz dont clacify what plate are inside plate carrier.
Modern ceramic plates can tank a slug/buckshot with its force without heavy pain and knockdown effect (because it breaks instantly),but there are other negative concequences of this.
