EMKAVEC filtration bottles and cholera!
The bottle only works if you drink from it.

Pour the water into something else to drink from and you risk cholera or heavy metal poisoning, as I have just found out.

It's recorded in the fandom wiki, but just mentioning it to try and stop any other players making this 'mistake'.

Possibly so - it's not what I would expect in real life.
Great PSA

In real life that's how the filtration bottle works. The mouth piece is actually a straw and it touches the bottom of the bottle inside of the bottle and when you fill the bottle, you suck from the straw and it filters like 99% of different pathogens. If you open the bottle and pour it's contaminated liquids to another bottle or container, the pathogen follows, contaminating the item and liquid. There might be a way to pour the water from the filtering straw, but i don't think so, because it usually needs a vacuum.

So this is not a bug, it's just realistic way, on how to use filtering bottle and how it works and many filtering bottles use this kind of build.

Thank you - I should have included that I've used filtration bottles/straws for real; yes, you do need pressure behind the water to get more than a drip drip drip to go through, as it works on very very small holes that are smaller than the pathogens.

Great flow can be achieved in real life by squeezing a flexible container or bottle, artificial pressurisation from an external pump, or using a greater head of water to let gravity do its thing.

I think the main thing is players know not to pour water out and expect it to be drinkable. Grateful for your information and thoughts mate.
