I had luck down at the south east island. But even then I had to check like 3-4 islands and only found a single “thing” but it had god-tier loot. Which I had to make the awful choice to just leave behind because I didn’t have things for the things.
Surely Wobo has a video about the spawn times of the dynamic containers?!
On an active server of 60 players, you can maybe expect 3 or 4 players around spawn with literally dozens of buildings to poke around.
Make a fire, get plus symbol.
Make torch, you can even use your starting t shirt if you don't need the storage space.
Head Inland. You have a good 15-20 mins easily before you need to make another fire and hopefully by then you have something to warm up/ cook.
Don't worry too much about food and water initially, just get moving inland, preferably south, and escape the bare knuckle boxing matches on the coast. No problem.
The remote shacks are often overlooked and have mosins, boxes of shotgun shells, hunting knives. A lot of the Infected seem to have canned food and drink on them. It's there if you know where to look.
I've not bumped into too many players on Sakhal - given that I avoid them anyway.
The community is working out how to play the game on Sakhal; I wouldn't say it's easy to be fair, but what I like about some of the replies here is that some players are figuring out how to be lateral thinkers, and where to go to survive inland.
Whereas other players are working out how to play as bandits on those that hug the coast and the spawn points.
I spawned at Vostok by the way, not sure if that made my life easier.
The OP has raised a very interesting point... maybe we will see some subtle rebalancing of things now the game is fully released, or maybe this is what was intended all along.
by killing Infected and looting them for food items.
I'm getting a ton of food and drinks.I have not had to hunt, fish or
find a well. Personally i think it makes it too easy.
The cooking pots are pretty OP as well. i have found 4 this time around.
The whole time i have been carrying a fishing rod....
Just in case.
Never had to use it.
Disagree, during the first 3 days on the the official Sakhal servers they were
so packed there was a 15-20 long line to re join.
Also no one knew the map so we were all noobs croaking every 5 min.
so, the coast was literally full of Bambi's bangin around trying to figure
Fishing is easy way to start off, especially when you can procure crafting materials from dead players.
It's big mistake to go in to the south-west peninsula early. There is no fresh water sources, scares shelters outside of the military bases and wolves roam the area.
Where I'm a bit disappointed are the smaller and larger islands around it, which you can only reach by boat, as there's hardly anything there except a house, ruins or lighthouses with low loot or just random military container spawns. From the point of view of the map creators, they could have been a little more creative and perhaps integrated a camp or something else somewhere. There aren't even animals on the islands.
Arguably, the best gear so far is a FireFighter set, with a Guilly hat and suit, padded or wool gloves, Hunter boots or assault boots and a ski mask .. All of which I've found before crossing the land bridge while skirting the north coast headed west.
- The higher tier military clothes, even the OMK sets, are Medium or High insulation, at best.
If you go to the peninsula unarmed then you are going to get killed by wolves if not by players. There are military bases that aren't in the peninsula and don't under estimate the value of weapon such as mosin and simply procure the better gear from dead players.
Whats the point to mindlessly run to the peninsula and hope that no one has ambush by the land bridge or in the peninsula itself. And then do it all over again?
If you follow the north coast west-ward, towards the peninsula, you will come across the highest insulation clothes, and guns, magazines, and tons of ammo .. except to get to the Bunker for an AKM or an AK silencer, you don't even need to go to the peninsula, but that is what the subject was when I made that original reply.
- You're the one saying that "It's a mistake" to go to the best gear too soon, making all kinds of assumptions about what gear you're able to collect along the north coast.
In my opinion, it's a waste of time and energy to go from the north coast southward, in to the harshest environment, the highest altitudes, coldest temps, with little to nothing, when you can run the coast, collect more than you need, and get to the best guns first.
- For that matter, most vehicle spawns are also along the north coast, so if you want a car to avoid all the wolves, you're gonna need to stick to the coast also.
You're entitled to your opinion, even if it is wrong.
FWIW on a 60/60 server, I looted all 4 bunker doors by myself and didn't see another soul. Had anxiety at first but eventually I just pretended like I was alone and there was no issue.
