Whats the point of the flag

I've not been playing long about a month now thought id give base building a try before the wipe on the 19th April i built a flag but everything around it still diapers, unless its in a shelter or crate or buried . is this normal i thought by having a flag everything with in a 60 meter radius didn't despawn

Items need to be in a container within the flag radius or else they will despawn after 8 hours

yeah man, everything still needs to be stored into something. Just take this as a lesson learned.

the purpose of the flag is that u dont have to interact with every single container/tent or fence to roll back the timer.

yes and no.

Yes because its easily spotted. yes because it keeps you in one location.

but no, flags are not useless. If your looking to protect your gear/tents/car then a flag is worth the trouble. Without it, you will loose ur walls eventually, letting anyone in. That barrel that has all your important tools. ahh well that despawns too. Just giving a few extra days without having to log in because your real busy in RL to do so is worth it.

The flag is fairly easy to make minus maybe the large stones, but even that is more of a a pain the butt then anything.

If you are gonna put roots down in one place for a bit, why would you not throw a flag down?

great explanation thanks. i think its a good idea to put down roots. having a base to operate from gives purpose to the game instead of roaming around aimlessly.

If you play on a Community server with mods most allow you to build tents with code locks. You can avoid using a flag all together by placing something like a car tent and locking it and putting storage down inside it. Really is the best option for solo/Duo players typically until you can amass a lot of base Materials.
