In my opinion, this "Hard core" era, has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gaming up more than anything.
Everyone loves a hard game, where they log in and instantly get hacked to death by an insanely difficult A.I, or shot by some teen who uses the bog roll to clean his mess up after his late night shinaniganz over how quickly he can quick scope and bag a head shot in COD.
I remember a day, when games were meant to be fun. When you'd have your mates round for a multiplayer on Golden Eye. A day and age, where a game was just that, a game. I mean, you never see people stabbing each other over a game of Monopoly, but as soon as you mention GTA5, people are down the stores with Flick Knives and Uzi's.
It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tragic if you ask me, that games have evolved, for some people, from being games, to becoming a 2nd job.
Hard Core... yeah, right... ♥♥♥♥ hard core. It's done more damage to games, and the gaming community than anything else. Now, you can't play games for fun, you have to play them for the "Hard Core" value.
Since when did it become an unwritten rule that the entire gaming community had to be full of hard core gamers who treat a game like it's a job? And that we can't just play a game for casual fun any more?
And no I am not excited of H1Z1 just cause of that... Call me a bitter old nerd but I still want it back.
On that note give Warhammer back as well..
Curse you WoW for being successful :p
Also on that note, thank god I gave away my account there 3 weeks after release :)
Your a Warhammer player are you Gobbo?
40K, or Fantasy?
Which faction? No, wait, don't tell me, Space Ork's :P.
Played football at the same time so fit well with my nerdy side :)
Still got my figures in a box in the basement :-)
I never tried Warhammer online, or Blood Bowl come to think about it. I was always more of a 40K player, Space Marine, Iron Hands.
I liked fantasy Warhammer. Chaos, Demons and Chaos Dwarves :). Chaos Warriors just rape everything in sight :P.
My personal tribute vid from those days :p

Well, thing is with Warhammer, it predominantly began really with Fantasy Warhammer. After a while though, punching elves, and dwarf bowling get's boring. It's always nice to be able to open fire from a range with a Heavy Bolter, or Lascannon :).
Alpha is for developing a video game, Alpha is the first "playable" stage of a video game, and the "skeleton". This game is exactly what an alpha should be. Problem here is you are trying to play it for enjoyment, Not for finding bugs, and reporting them, funding the project, etc. You are treating this alpha as a fully finished game and because it isn't, you are raging. You do not know what an alpha is if you are having this hard of a time understanding this (even though there is TONS of info on what work has been done etc.)
You are a moron, the end.
heh, as someone who started my teen years at the start of the 90's and saw the birth of what we'd consider PC gaming... you lot dont know what hardcore games are truely like. Some of those old ones were/are down right diabolical.
And we loved em... and heck, before that, hell games like Ninja Gaiden on the NES... THAT was hardcore to the extreme. It could make grown men cry.. and they thanked it for it while pulling down their pants for round two. Hardcore, dont make me laugh...
As for the resolution issue, if it doesnt work for you, edit the two the resolution entries (thats 4 intotal devided into 2 groups) in the DayZ.cfg found in yoru mydocuments folder and make sure they are correct for your monitors native resolution. Should fix it.
In my day we had to damn well write .bat files and .autoexec's and set our mem up or edit our config.sys file through DOS to get games running... its a lost skill i tell you, these days people find something not working imediatly and they throw up their arms and scream blue murder. I worry for the day the world really goes to pot... so many people are just either gonna loose it or sit there like dumb struck sheep with out a clue how to continue with their thumbs in their mouths.
Bring back the good old days, the days of the Master System with Alex Kid built in to it. 4 of the most "Hard Core" games that I ever played were Robocop Arcade, Eswat, Shadow Dancer and Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Problem is, with games like Ninja Gaiden, it had the same issue as Double Dragon, Turtles etc... You played the game for long enough and you'd memorize what enemies come next. The thing with Shadow Dancer, Street Fighter etc... Was that in bonus mission's, and other sections of the game, and what have you, was that thing's happened so quickly that you couldn't keep up with it. Hell, I even remember the ZX Spectrum days. Now Jet Set Willy was just plain brutal. 3 lives to complete an entire game... Goodbye. I don't think that anyone, in history, ever completed Jet Set Willy, at least not without cheating. Ghouls and Ghost's was also pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ extreme.
Yeah, I remember with old printers back in the late 90's, you had to write your own printer driver for them in Note Pad, or at least some of them. Install Windows 3.1 off several floppy disk drives and all that ♥♥♥♥. Bring back the day's of the good old jumper motherboards, where you had to put the pin's in exactly the right place, or risk blowing the board, where if you lost the jumper head, you'd just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up an £200 motherboard.
Trouble is, it's all about convenience these day's. Everything is tailored to the consumer to make it as quick and as easy as possible. That's why people don't have patience any more, because they don't have to apply thought to anything, because it's all done for them.
Because if i say a game is ♥♥♥♥, i don't mean it is literally a big steaming pile of feces, it means i think it's terrible.
I was being sarcastic and if you think i literally only walked and looked about because i said it wouldn't take me 10 hours to learn and do it, i might as well give up on you.
The game is progressing incredibly slow and compared to the release date version, barely anything is significantly better, changed or added. Period.
Compare this to other games in development (even by smaller groups) and there you have your cuplrit.
You really dodged a bullet there cursing man, the mods really would have banned you, a martyr to the cause!
For gods sake grow up and let a man have his opinion and TRY to understand it before rushing on and accusing him of being the most disabled idiot you could ever find.
IF you want to convince me otherwise, it would be hard, because i've tried the content first hand. Guess how you try to convince someone at that point? You prove him wrong, does calling him all types of ♥♥♥♥ and going full dramatic on him change anything?
No. It only sours up my opinion more because the biggest part of the community seems to be like that, or they're just not bothering to rage at people on the discussions, take your pick.
You might as well mate, I gave up on you over 24 hours ago. I've got better thing's to do than explain to you where your going wrong. If you haven't figured that part out by now, you never will.
I'm not trying to be a stuck up prick but to be fair, they've been "talking" and "thinking" about the vehicles for too long now, early versions of the vehicles should kind of already be around, even if it's just one ugly vehicle, only to test out the systems.
I mean a little heads up on their progess would be great, a simple teasing screenshot of WIP would be enough to set that straight, i'm just not getting the idea they're really putting their backs into it.
Btw i heard rumors of DayZ starting all over again on another new engine, is that really happening?
