Getting sick from well water.

I'm refilling my bottles at a well pump thing. I was under the impression that the water from them was always safe to drink but i think it's making me sick.

Water in them is always safe. Were those bottles completely empty before you filled them? A single drop of contaminated water will spoil the whole contents you know. And if you were sick before, it's possible your disease transferred to the water and reinfected you later.
Which sickness is it btw?

Depends on a server. There are a few hardcore ones where water from wells is not safe "as is". But these places are rare.

The water from a water fountain doesn't get you sick. You probably got sick from something else. Did you have blood on your hands? or were cold? in this game, you can get sick easily with many sicknesses (didn't know about hardcore servers having sickly water fountains lol)

What map/server are you playing on? should put down more info because we can't help/understand the whole thing if you leave stuff out.

Someone might mention the water bottles not being clean or something like that. Were you sick while you drank? probably made yourself sick again by drinking that same water.

Just find pills and if you find the pills to purify the water, you can just drag the pills to the water bottle and see if it says "Purify" I'm no expert so, sorry if my advice isn't the best.

I'm sure the experts will show up and will explain stuff (two did before I posted this lol)

I'm on livonia(Official server), i filled all my glass and plastic bottles at a well in a town. I've been sick and recovered several times (around 3 or 5 times). If i'm honest i can't be certain it's the water as i am walking outside at times when i suddenly get sick. My temperature meter has never gone blue, i stay out of the rain, i go inside and warm up at night. It's either the water/bottles im drinking from or i keep walking through something outside that makes me sick. I just feel like it's the water though because i feel like i'd have to be super unlucky to keep walking into something that makes me sick. I also always wear gloves of some sort. I'm completely confused on how it could be happening.

EDIT: I wanted to add that i am very well covered up to protect against cold as well. My clothes are in good condition.

Okay. So, you play on Official Servers, Map is Livonia (so not a hardcore server where the water is sickly) you said you recovered from this certain sickness several times, which means it isn't the sickness that kills you over time (hurting your character as your health drops and no way to cure it)

Hmm, that is weird and strange. Does this happen on this specific server? or any server? did you try another Livonia server? or jump into a different map and see how it goes for you, sickness wise.

You are protected, warm, could be something dirty or so that you used that wasn't disinfected? (I'm just throwing out guesses here) try changing servers/map and come back with an update.

Do you still get sick the same way? etc

Edit: Also, try just drinking from the fountains without a water bottle (if you can get a cooking pot, canteen or so, use that)

Try this, and scroll down to Illness and disease for the symptoms. Which illness/disease do you think you actually have? It might be easier to troubleshoot what's going wrong if we know what you've got

What are your symptoms? Sneezing and coughing means your temperature has been blue for too long at some point, or you've been in contact with someone who's sick. Once you catch a cold once, it will contaminate your water upon drinking.
If you're vomiting after eating or drinking, then it's salmonella or cholera.

Consumption of Gasoline, burned or rotten food, or Unknown food cans

(Symptoms)
Water and energy loss through Vomiting, Fatigue (Slower Stamina regen)

(Treatment)
None. Illness will clear on its own over time.

Avoid rotten/burned foods
Don't eat unknown food cans
Don't drink Gasoline <---- who the hell is drinking gas?

And this "Achieve over 95% Immunity" for the "Cholera" sickness. How the hell do you know if you're at 95% immunity? there are no numbers to tell us crap (unless if you use a mod/play on community servers)

Edit: I've been eating those Unknown Food Cans lol I mean, they fill you up pretty good and can snack on them for a while.

this helped a lot, i defintely have one of those two, i did vomit after drinking water. i have blurry vision too so i think it is cholera. I did drink while sick as well
Edit: Now that i think of it i also drank from a partially full water bottle i found yesterday because i was desperate for water at the time. Probably didn't help my chances. So i've got 4 water bottles that are potentially contaminated...im cooked lol.

Yeah. once you mentioned vomiting, I knew what it was lol now you know what it is and can easily avoid it, hopefully. I get messed up by sickness a lot so, it's whatever to me now.

Nah, you'll be fine. Toss those bottles and get what you need to cure the sickness (if you still have it) luckily, it isn't a deathly sickness.

Just dump all the water out of the container, and refill them. Then you'll be fine.
