A note on boats
Overall, absolutely amazing DLC. The atmosphere, the ambient sounds, the weather, the overall bleak vibe... fantastic. My only gripe is the boats not respawning. Since there is little of interest to keep you on the outer islands for any length of time, beyond base building, wouldn't it make more sense to have the boats only last a limited time, before respawning? Once they've been taken, they almost never seem to respawn seemingly. A minor gripe, but still...

That would result in folks being tapped on the outside islands, my only gripe with boats is that they have zero storage, despite dingy's normally have attachment points for drybags/sacks in real life.

Yeah, the lack of storage is kinda
immersion" breaking".. Not to mention a PITA.

I'd like to see them add a requirement to have more than a sparkplug, like, you also need to have a Jerrycan attached as a fuel tank .. most small outboard motors have separate fuel tanks. And a place to attach a visible Drybag backpack for portable storage.
- I made a mod (private fn) to add the jerrycan and backpack slots, as well as 50 slots on-board inventory, but without Bohemia source files, I can't add the Proxies to make the jerrycan and backpack visible.

They don't respawn? What happens when one is sunk?

After the mini patch last week, I have been seeing tents + barrels in the sky ALL OVER. And a LOT of boats have spawned in UPSIDE DOWN, and do not right themselves after a server reset.

I've been sinking these boats thinking they would respawn on the next reset, is this accurate?

Like all vehicles, they will only despawn after being "Ruined". Shoot the Engine until you get the red dot next to the name prompt. Once that one despawns, another will spawn.

I hear you, but I am currently trapped on the main islands :) Haven't found a boat for a while...

They don't, sadly. Unless ruined. So finding one in a spawn site is becoming increasingly unlikely...

I figured this was to stop it being too easy to setup up a base on the islands... A boat with loads of storage would make it much less of an expedition... Does seem a bit silly to have zero space, though...

I'd like one of your boats, please :)

I remember I watched WOBO's video and he said, that boats also despawns if away from 300m from a survivor, so... I don't understand how people go to the islands, build a base, and leave the boat there, log off, and the boat is still there?

I thought that was a thing, boats despawning when there is no survivors around it for 300m or maybe more meters? I don't remember... however, for a specified amount of time, they should despawn if not touched and no one is around, that should be the point.

If that's not the case then that's sh1t.

I only found one boat in officials until now, and haven't even managed to drive it, it just spawned there, and it wasn't there the other day I played, so surely either one broke in the map or it despawned and it got respawned in the stock spawn point.

Oh, okay, I didn't see that video. As I understand it, they are like vehicles. They exist wherever they are until 'ruined'... That's been my experience, anyway.

Does anybody know how long a boat can sit somewhere without a survivor being near before it despawns?

Unless it was changed, and according to WOBO, Boats ONLY despawn when ruined, or when they are off the edge of the map (boats can drift away).
At about the 7 minute mark:

They should add that. I was thinking "can't you just attach a bag to it?"
