How about this then.
That's actually pretty good advice.
I can only guess I am parts in his stew right now.
There is also an event going on, that has a grand price for those, who take part in the lottery.
1. What launcher should I use? I tried just launching from Steam but could not get into servers bc I didn’t have the right mods. I could not figure out how to launch in Steam and have the game dl the mods. Eventually I dl’d DayzSA Launcher and the most vanilla server I could find still had 2GB of mods to dl. I didn’t really like the DayzSA launcher bc the pings were too volatile, I’d have a good ping to a server and then when I tried to sort by ping the good server would be unresponsive.
2. It seemed common for some servers to require 6+ GBs of mods and some are like 20, what the heck?!?!
3. I stared at a well for like 10 minutes before I figured out how to fill my canteen.
4. Did pretty well my first couple of tangles with zombies with an knife and then I got a pitckaxe and a pitchfork and thought lag was keeping me from attacking bc I thought it was LM attack and RM block. Then I think I discovered they are different from a knife? WTF?
5. I spawned on the coast and I ignored any buildings around me assuming they had been looted. I either moved left or right on the coast and took the first road inland I found.
6. The server I was on started everyone with a bandage, stone knife, gps and map. And a road flare. I could not figure out how to use the GPS, maybe it needs a battery? And the map used a different alphabet than the road signs so I could never figure out where I was. How do you get out of the map, is there a different keybind than ESC?
6. Is there a keybind to put what is in your hands into your inventory?
That's what we have GTA 5 for.
This is the 4th thread you've spammed your ad on.
I've had a kind of similar experience.
First I bought DayZ about a year ago, then got PTSD from the zombies, but I tried it lately again, and the zombies didn't piss me off that much anymore, so I bought the expansion.
When you click "refresh" on the server listing there are a decent amount of servers.
I don't know about the map, am a newb. Next, I might go play it now, to get more of the hang of it. But I'm terrible at crafting items and what not.
Then got outside again, and almost died by hunger, then a zombie headbutted me and I was dead!

Something sharp is your key to survival.
Don't jump straight in to tutorials and spoonfeed the lot the discovery is a great part of it and most of all don't get attached to your stuff :)
Good luck survivor!
Also, expect to a die. A lot. You'll often even die with no clue of what killed you.
The sooner you learn to enjoy death, the sooner you'll learn to appreciate the game.
Stop going to community servers and you won't have many issues. I don't bother with Community Servers because of all the Mods they want you to download, rather than just having it all already in the Map without needing to download anything else.
You can play Vanilla Community Servers without Mods.
Well, props for facing your fears and jumping back in against the zombies :) and don't expect to be perfect your first few times of playing. You'll learn the ropes, a bit hard but you'll get the hang of it the more you play and craft.
There is a crafting list online but too much to remember. Basic for fires (1 Stick + 1 Bark = Build a Fireplace and other option, build a fire starter kit) fire kit to start a fire if you have no lighter/matches/flare.
Things will get wet, you will need to take off your top, pants and hat to rinse the water out of them and put them from soaked and wet to damp. Damp means you are good to go. Can't rinse the water out from Vest, Shoes, Gloves but they will dry up/go damp as you stay in front of a fire.
Food - Best bet is to go fishing (hard to find food most times) You can make a Fishing Rod with 1 long stick + rope then 1 Short Stick + Knife to craft some hooks for the Rod (can craft a knife and hooks from bones as well) 2+ pieces of bones = Bone Knife, using a Knife + bones will give you bone hooks.
You'd need to dig up some worms to have some bait (use something to dig it up, shovel or something sharp like a knife or so)
As for Warmth, find clothes that have best/high insulation (stick with best when you can) but you still need to make some fires to get that fire/heat buff that lasts a bit to keep your hunger/thirst fine for a while.
Sakhal is definitely harder than the other maps. You should try Chenarous/Livonia and then hop back to Sakhal once you learn a few of the ropes. Up to you though.
Watching vids or reading a guide won't help much when you are in the game trying to stay alive. If the person can remember everything they read/watched, then sure? but I think it's better for the person to just get first hand experience.
I will only look up something if I really need to. Besides that, I won't bother. People shouldn't get this game if they are just trying to focus on the "simulation" aspect.
This feels like the sims but isn't. Too much focus on the stats (the Sims) barely enjoying the game (can't explore or have an adventure fully without worrying about the stupid stats)
Can't burn wooded gates lol can't even climb over them with a ladder or something. The simulation aspect needs a ton of work, for a "finished" product.
