Either use the water pumps that are dotted around or get water from ponds or streams then purify it with purification tablets

pond water is totally safe to drink in 0.59 but as soon as you are wounded by shots or alike, then its not safe anymore - there is a risk of a bacterial infection (cholera), but you gotta be in a pretty bad shape to set it off. If fully hydrated & energized then you can be a carrier of a disease but it may never set in effect, unless you are seriously wounded...

So it totally depends on yer gameplay; if you run about alone and avoid taking fire then pond water is perfectly safe to drink, but if you pvp then its another matter; then you need to purify the water with the purifying pills found in sheds and houses.

If in doubt, simply stick to wells (water pumps) in towns

the cure for cholera is antibiotics - rare but ingame
Really? Kinda cool to be honest. So getting hurt lowers your immune system.

Is it possible to purify water by boiling it?
Only drink from ponds if you have full blood if you have low blood and you drink from a pond you WILL get cholera, if you use water purification tabs it will lower the risk of getting cholera by about 98% give or take.

Only drink from ponds if you have full blood.

Does not make a difference if it is running water or still water.

You can drink from pumps with low blood no blood or full blood and you will be perfectly fine.

For further information please check out my guide thank you.

Consume Antibiotics

No. But i hope it will be someday :)

I was kinda sure that pond water was bugged (100% safe) in .59 since i've been living of it and even wounded without anything happening... until the other day, then i caught the cholera while grey screen wounded, so i guess Mr Grim was right in his suspicions back when we were testing pond water (he wanted me to shoot him to get wounded in a controlled way). So much for my rushed conclusions lol, the system totally works and is not bugged.

Mister Grim is always willing to take one for the team :D
