not trying to be a ♥♥♥♥ but the design is actually not very good at deflecting a downward cut due to the ridge at the top which causes the blade to grip the metal to a greater degree meaning the cut delivers a more focused cut
It had never occured to me acctually...
I don't think it's enchanted :\
So you are totally vulnerable to magic in the face/head region.

By the way, even though it says 1% bleed chance, I punched my friend wearing this pristine in the face and he bled so... I don't know. Really lucky or it's not a 1% chance.
Not exactly, the purpose of armor like that great helm wasn't to be able to just absord continual blows, but the combination with body armor gives a lot of weight and sturdiness to a human frame which makes "taking hits" (when also blocking with sword or shield) a lot more viable and easy. In particular, the added sturdiness around the neck that a combined helmet and body plate would give.
Nothing is really going to stop a solid iron mace/sword blow to the back or front of your head from killing or incapacitating you, but a half hit, or a slice that would have torn your skin open, or something dangerous but not exactly deadly like a slingshot, or rocksalt shotgun, would be vastly less effective. If the sword wasn't sharp it may help to deflect the force of the hit, but recieving that much forceful impact to the head (from an "average" person getting a full force swing at anothers head with a heavy object), would be serious injury or death in most cases.
So it helps vs a lot of things, but nothing, including a great helm or even a ballistic helm is truely reliable.
