killing you an taking your stuff is easier than the hassle of befriending someone.
many of us wish players would try to be more interactive, even as a "bandit" but that's just not how people are wired.
you will encounter some "fun" players but many will just shoot on sight.
new player stay a valid target to many people even for no reason , can count the time i encounter full geared guy who roam in spawn area just to "hunt" .
best solution is to stay away from the coast, go in land , deeper is better , less population , more loot .
That is actually what puzzles me the most. Like, what can be a simplier solution than teaming up? It is pretty obvious that the more of us, the easier to survive, repel zombies and hostile players and stuff, is it not? In the long term, it has to be way more profitable than "lol, I'll just kill for something that can easily be obtained".
I just can't grasp how can one be that shortsighted. The more people in a team = the more the chances to collect useful items, "I've got this, you've got that". Obtaining a valuable teammate, given the alleged difficulty of doing so, is way more of a valuable resouce than any loot, I guess. So like even pure math suggests to team up.
You would think that people who want frags need to play... Idk, Overwatch, PUBG, CS and whatnot? Yet somehow they are here, and that is bizzare, for me at least.
Actually, I haven't been killed so far, I haven't encountered anyone so far, and I'm going to play with a friend of mine, so it's not that I'm having issues (so far), but I'm just trying to understand why this is happening, you know.
and you know its a game and it wouldnt be fun to play a survival game if theire was no PVP , PVE is easy and boring for majority , its bad only when its about killing for nothing , when you are geared and kill a fresh spawn for his fruits its stupi ds , but when its geared people agaisnt geared its normal .
Couldn't say, tbh. I've played a lot of games, for one, but I can't remember that any of them taught that. For example, Left 4 Dead, which is another zombie game, is literally built around teamwork.
Perhaps, but judging by the review... Like, there always will be some bandits and looters, it is to be expected and it is realistic, after all, but when most of players will try to kill you, it's just way too much, at least for me. Maybe it was my fault as well, lmao, as I could have done some more research - somehow, I thought that a lot of cooperative gaming happens in DayZ. So guess I just need to bring my friend to the game to do that.
It's part of dayZ; frustration and satisfaction go hand in hand
This kind of experience started with a few people on the day the game came out, from there it just snowballed into the extremely common hostility we have now. It's just how the game psychology has developed over the years.
Streamers who generated views by trolling other players also played a big part in this. Toxic behavior seems to be much more popular among viewers than any other type of interaction between players.
So yeah, even if you manage to befriend a rando, chances are they'll shoot you in the back at the next opportunity. They themselves have learned the hard way to never trust anyone, also they have no way to know if you are a bandit or a hero like in the old Dayz mod.
The original DayZ mod for Arma 2 used to have a score stat called "humanity", which was going up when you killed zombies, and down (even into the negative) when you killed other players. That humanity score encouraged many players to become heroes instead of bandits, and to befriend other heroes and team up. But in DayZ standalone that score is missing, which effectively removes another incentive to stay friendly.
That's why I usually only play modded PVE servers. There are many user-made maps to explore, plus tons of PVE-orientated mods like quests, treasure hunts, missions against AI bots etc... People who say that PVE is boring are either toxic players themselves or they just haven't found the right servers yet.
somehow i found several guns before finding a singular melee weapon
That's basically what I meant xD
I thought that the loot would be much more scarce, but it seems that there is a plenty of it. On the other hand, I thought it would be much easier to find food and water, but I've already died twice of starvation and dehydration.
If you want to make friends on official you will have to put in a lot of effort because a wiggle dance and saying friendly simply will not get you any trust. Its better to spot other players and approach them on your own terms, so that you have the advantage in the meet up.
As for survival most players can survive solo with ease, so picking up a new player is dead weight. Helping Bambi doesn't make life easier but harder.
.....but if your sure that RP is more what your looking for from the game then you might prefer to search for a RP community server and make sure to play by their rules.
Hostile or friendly players seem, in my experience, predictable depending on what server you’re on. Super high pop = most likely more hostile players. Though obviously this isn’t always the case.
I, too, have been way too nice and fallen victim to “friendly” people shooting me in the face right as I’m vulnerable and starting a fire for us or something. Always approach with caution.
