There are 5 Weapons chambered in .338 and only 2 with 7.62x54r
Now 3.
Also, the Mosin has a way longer Barrel and only 5 internal bullets while the SV got 10 round mags.
Imho, i love this new Rifle!
The extra 5 shots is pretty meaningless in 99% of scenarios and the fact it needs a magazine is also a disadvantage. The mosin you can keep constantly topped. You can top load it between shots without even using the magazine. Then when you need follow up shots you starting using the internal mag.

Yeah, there's no .338 lapua in the vanilla game and most likely never will be. Apart from laziness by the developers, I could see a weak reasoning be that having too much diversity of ammo types can cause finding ammo for other weapons harder. Naturally, since .338 lapua is a very high-end round and would most likely only spawn at high-tier military locations (AKA Tisy), that argument would hold no water
.338 is a round you can buy civilian rifles in. I really would have no issue with seeing .338 in tier 2, just make it rare.
If you ignore improvised content (most of it is new), 90% of the in-game items were already present in legacy DayZ and have been slowly re-implemented over time. For the average player that only picked the game up a few years ago after the 1.0 release, they would get the impression that Bohemia is doing so much work to pump out tons of content to them when, in reality, they already had 80% of the work done for them and all they had to do was "importing" it into the new engine.
For example, of the 26 sharp melee weapons in the game, only 5 of them are actually new and, of the 16 blunt melee weapons, not a single one is actually new, but rather removed from the game when 1.0 released and added back in over time. The same can be said for guns since only 9 unique weapons have been added and, when you ignore weapons that were in the game files previously or are just copy/pastes of each other (M70 & CR-550), the number drops to 5. This gives some perspective of all of the "new" guns and melee weapons they've added over the years and how most of it wasn't "new", but "new to you"
some people are only good at complaining
Its like the deagle being in .357. Sure you can get it in that calibre but its known for being 50AE, so why not add 50AE.
Its also much more common to see the M14 in 7.62x51.
Like you said, .357 on the Deagle is definitely the most outlandish decision by far while most of the others are alright. The only stuff that's laughable to me is the bolt action rifles chambered in lower caliber rounds (5.56 & 5.45) as if they're ever going to be reliably killing people with anything other than a headshot
Honestly, the Pioneer seems like a "placeholder" gun that solely exists to have more in-game variety of weaponry. As a fun fact, the Pioneer was one of the weapons I mentioned that was in the game files before 1.0 as well as being originally chambered in .308 instead of 5.56 like it is now. They took a rifle that could've been decent to use and turned it into a laughable joke that I would be disappointed to find when looting
does not require a mag but is semi auto and is simple to use.
AND, the best part, no one else ever really wants them.
Also, like a "bolt" rifle you can "chamber load" for single
shots saving the ammo load for when things get "up close and personal".
Correct. SK S9/66 is an SKS. And you can even enable the green and black variants ingame for more variety. Actually, most vanilla guns have vanilla black and green variants, as well as black and green mags for almost every gun. My server has them all in game... so nice having an AK with black mags...
Yeh, pretty bland addition as it is now, give it a long range scope and we can talk about it, for the moment still nothing beats a Winchester.
