Is it possible to have 2 DayZ profiles?

Me and my brother both bought DayZ on steam, we have different accounts, but only 1 computer and everytime I run DayZ it's his character/profile on the menu, I can't change it whitout deleting, does anyone know how to do this if it's possible?

Google didn't help.

Yeah, but it doesn't justify to spend around 500€ just to play a 24€, some people like you may not have that problem with money, but some people are not rich, like me, I can't afford to waste money like that

Which is why I said, "Save up".

You could try the other options people suggested.

It's very hard to save up money these days with the price of stuff.

He's saying to load in and you will have your own gear. The picture you see in the begining isn't nescesarilly the 1 you will play with. Its the last one played. My one buddy goes to a friends house and plays his own accnt. on his friends pc all the time. He has a different name on server even but still has his own gear.

Log out of your account and log into his, your games library will be shared but when you start DayZ and log into a server (not just the start screen) it should be his guy/gear? works for me anyway but the 2nd account im logging into was created on another pc (sons account/DayZ) so i dont know it that makes a difference, i play with another guy who has 2 DayZ/Steam accounts and he can switch between them on the same pc too with no issues so it is possible, your just doing something wrong

Actually that's exactly what I've been doing, but I can't seem to create a new character without deleting my brother's, I'll try one more time, this time I'll copy the whole DayZ folder so just in case I delete his profile, I have a backup, i hope...

Don't take the char selection screen as any indication tbh.
I think that's still stored locally so will show as last played, same reason it will show your HC char if you last played there etc.

You need to read the whole thread again. The problem is not the name, the problem is the character, it's still my brother's charcter I play with and with his stuff.

You are the one should read. You can play two different characters and he explained how. He's also explained that no matter what steam account used that the character shown in the main menu is the last character that played not necessarily the character that'll appear when you join server.

You are only talking about different Steam accounts, right? You need to use different Windows accounts as well, since DayZ stores its profile-related data in the "Documents"-folder.

You are only talking about different Steam accounts, right? You need to use different Windows accounts as well, since DayZ stores its profile-related data in the "Documents"-folder.

Doesn't work for me, geez, read the whole thread again too, changing the character name doesn't work for me, that's what I tought too, that changing names would work, but it doesn't, whenever I click play it's still his character and his server, I've been trying that all afternoon and thats why I have come here

Okay, this is correct info, and a longer explanation of how I do it:

I have a steam account. My son has a steam account. I own a copy of DayZ. He owns a copy of DayZ. If I need /want to use our desktop comp., I just need to log in to MY steam account, click on library and play game. I ignore whatever character comes up, because that is just the last character played on that computer. Okay, so my son's computer is not operational atm, so when he wants to play, he gets on the computer (only 1 windows profile, mine...so he uses that) and opens steam, makes sure he goes to top right corner where it says the account name, uses the drop down menu, choses the option "change user". Then he will log out of my steam account, and then log into his account, chose library and game to play. The character that comes up will be mine, since I last played on that computer, but since it is his steam account, when he loads into the game, it is his character. We switch back and forth all the time, and it has never been a prob. But you should change the player name, as my son found out when he realized he was playing his character with my in-game name : )

It didn't. I changed name, on MY steam account, but it's still his character and his server when I click play, but I think I know why, he changed some stuff in the config files because Steam Kept crashing because of my OS (Win XP) so i think I'll delete the config
