For all we know, the only check the game does is for whether there is liquid in a container and not what type of liquid it is when boiling food
Well, you DO die if you drink it, regardless of the container it is in.
Usually i would assume it would still "act" like petrol.
However.. This is DayZ were talking about, so....
Probably turn out to be an antidote for the gas poisoning.
I say that because there isn't any sort of "gasoline saturated" meat in the game, so it would only make sense that a piece of meat cooked in a pot full of gasoline would be no different from regular boiled meat. It's also worth noting that meat only has a "remaining" bar showing how much meat is left and no indicator/status for hydration, so it doesn't seem like the game would track the kind of liquid it was cooked in. They have different types of meat such as raw, rotten, cooked, and smoked, but there isn't a status for them being saturated with a liquid
I very well could be wrong about the saturation statement, but as far as I can remember from the large amount of meat cooking I did one time while playing, I don't recall any sort of indicator regarding what the meat was cooked in or if it was soaked/wet/etc. or not
Edit. Just checked; gasoline acts as there's nothing in the pot.
Preferably not IRL...
It looks like my original thoughts were right though since it seems that all the game does is check if there's water in the pot for boiling meat and, if there isn't, it doesn't work. It definitely would be an interesting mechanic to be in the game, but it would also be an extremely niche/gimmick feature that would only truly be used by people who want to torture fresh spawns on the coast
At least it does not explode...
Ok, i can answer this.
Slow cook at below 30 degrees C to reduce the chance of explosions.
Cook for about 4 hours and it will be done.
It is probably toxic and will taste bad, but it will cook.
FYI i am a chef IRL.
Hope this answers your question.
