Private hive server?
Can anyone tell me whats so good about private hive servers cause i see my friends playing on them all the time and there at the top of the server lists all the time. And they can't mod the servers if i'm not mistaken (which is stupid) so whats so good about them?

For one, It eliminates server hoppers. Secondly, you won't find a hacker on a private server, maybe an abusive admin, but no hackers. The server renter of a private hive can also set rules such as no KoS.

DayZ is still in development. Why on earth would they allow modding on a game that is having it's engine being developed and implemented?

Modding will be available after the game has been fully released.

So other then server hoppers and no hackers its not worth playing on.. ok thank you and I don't think there will be modding for the next 2 year sense this game is taking so long to become a full game.

Tight knit communities that come together to play the game with respect for other players with server wide rules, whitelisting/passwords to block hackers ect. private hive communities have a much more mature community with none of The children found on public that play this game like its Call of Battle duty front field 15

and look at ARK:survival evolved its not a full game yet but they had modding

ARK is running on an already completed game engine. DayZ is NOT.

Big difference.

arks game engine is not complete at all there still tweaking it in many different ways and i know there is a slight diffrence between ark and dayz's engine but still

Ark is running on the Unreal engine. It is completed and available for game developers to purchase and create on.

DayZ uses the Enfusion engine. Nothing like the Unity engine.

EDIT: I typed Unity engine, I was refering to Unreal.
Got the two confused.

I never said there the same and arks engine is still having tons of issues such as game performince in which dayz is not having that problem
Pink Floyd Feb 28, 2016 @ 12:03pm
Did you just say DayZ is not having performance issues....

HA-HA

I don't lag on dayz at all, now there is some bugs but that isn't a performance issue

arks engine is built with unreal 4 engine and upon its early access release, they had their game built to point where they called it a stable foundation which is why they opened up the community to modding so quickly, Arks developement team also has very advanced veteran developers from multiple independant AAA studios, aswell as microsoft. With their developmental power and the ease of the new UE4 you can always expect to see more progress with their game, while on the other hand the small development team that dayz has been given along with a few original developers of arma2, they have the whole task of completely re-writting the engine and renderer which in my opion, sound rather daunting. Its been slow but im excited for the developements to come this year, already with the rumored implimentaion of the first buil d of the DX11 renderer in 0.60 i cant wait

Not entirely true... I've seen hackers on private servers before, but way, way less of them for two reasons:

1. There are less people on private servers, and since hackers need people to troll it's less worth their while to try to find people scattered across a map, rather then just find a lot of people in the usual hi pop places on a public server.

2. There are usually active Admins on private server who are watching. It's easy for a hacker to go for a while without getting banned / booted on a public server with no Admins watching. So private servers are better protected and therefore less attractive to a hacker.

Having said all that... sometimes a bad Admin / owner of a private server is worse then a hacker, at least you know what a hackers intention is, a Admin / owner can turn Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on you at random. Not to mention, private server come and go without reason, building a base can be a tricky gamble at best, a pointless time waster at worst.

biggest difference if you wana play to survive and maybe have a few friendly social interactions once in a while go to private. if you wana gear up and pvp all day go to a public. simple as that.
