SVD and PSO-1 Scope: Lesson learned
So, I was playing last night and running around a server when I had FINALLY come across an SVD. I've been searching frantically, hoping to find one. The SVD holds a bit of a place in my heart.

At any rate, after fleeing the site and continuing my journey, I noticed the Scope on it was in the "Damaged" State. So, I pulled the gun up and peered through the scope revealing that it didnt look damaged. This piqued my curiosity, so I removed the scope as I've had instances with attachments on guns stating that theyre damaged, onced removed they revert to Worn and I replace them.

Well, the scope remained damaged. So I shrugged, reattached the scope to the gun and peered through it once more. Still looked pristine so I chalked it up to a bug and continued on my merry way, content with my find.

Moments later I'm looking at my character and the SVD over his back and there is no scope on it. Aghast in horror I stop and check my inventory: the scope is gone! I darted back to where I was tooling around with it, but I couldnt find it. I threw a spare Kashtan Scope onto it that was in my bag, but I was immediately defeated. I very much like the PSO-1 scope. Now, I have to scour again, hoping to find another Russian Heli crash, as well as have it spawn another SVD just so I can feel complete again. I chalked it up to the world that is, and has been, DayZ and I've continued on surivivng.

Anyone else run into issues with attachments disappearing? It happened to a silencer I had on an AUG as well.

Yes I have, I will say it been around for awhile. If you pick an item up and use it whatever even in your bag or in your hands. If anouther player walk by where you found it and see it there(Bug) He also can pick it up and use it. But if that happens it will disapear from your invintory. The moral of the story only one of you can have it. The game only sees one item. So welcome to DayZ Alpha. Its a Bug!!

VSS has the same scope, so just find one of those if you can't find yourself an SVD and take its scope.
By the way, I'm not sure what made you think it's a bug for a scope to switch to worn when removed from a weapon, if it DOES do that, THAT is a bug. Not the other way around. The PSO scope doesn't currently show any damage when damaged, but I believe it is a little inaccurate.

I never claimed anything was a bug. I said that that I've experienced instances in which removing attachments from weapons altered their state of quality.

At any rate, Ill begin searching again for a new PSO-1 this evening. I was just sharing my bit of a blunder.

I'm not sure what happened with the scope. It was on the gun when I shouldered it. Then suddenly it was gone. There was also little chance I'd find it in the grass, so I moved on.

Hopefully, other people who see this will learn from it.

I don't think you did anything to despawn it, it just happens. Comes with the territory of Alpha. Pro tip though, never pull out a compass with a rifle in your hands.

Oh? What does that do?

You can drop your rifle as far as I know and can notice it too late

Oh, yeah. That happens with generally anything you move to your hands while holding a rifle. I overcame that blunder many patches ago ahaha.

I usually just drag the compass to the Hot Key bar. The compass thumbnail works as an actual compass on the bar, removing the need to ever pull it out.

Vss uses the pso-1-1, SVD is pso-1. Vss's zeroes to 400 in increments of 50 meters, SVD zeroes too 1000 in crements of 100.

Similar then. I've only ever picked up a VSS for a few minutes, never even fired it.

To me it is. For some reason a lot of people don't like it,mainly pbecause the hungry/sick icons, etc, don't show up in the inventory menu. It makes it better for me as it's more of a challenge and makes it more realistic. Your character still says "I'm hungry" etc though.
The vicinity area, with all the little squares for each icon, is a ♥♥♥♥♥, and you can't just drag and drop stuff out of the inventory box to drop it on the floor, meaning to take all the clothing off a body you have to drop your ♥♥♥♥ on the floor, put theirs on then swap it out for your ♥♥♥♥ again.
But, you can take anything off of vehicles without any tools, and access the whole inventory of the big tents and vehicles.

Interesting, I'll have to give it a shot. Wouldnt hurt to get used to it. I dont mind the loss of the Status indicators. The game is shaping up to be the survival game I had hoped the mod would be.
