Also, gunshot audio is still imperfect ATM.
May be a bug. You should not hear a crack at all with "SUB"sonic ammunition (roughly 1100 feet per sec and lower). They should fix this. Used to be a member at a long range shooting club that had a range with working pits. Police used the pistol range for their sub guns and some were suppressed with subsonic rounds. All you can hear is minimal gas expansion out the muzzle and the bolt cycle. ABSOLUTELY no bullet snap. Used to suppress my .22s as a kid and they were just as loud with regular ammo until you used subsonic. With my bolt action all you hear is the firing pin strike the primer. Cool as hell! That's what I love about this game is the ballistics physics. That really is what a bullet sounds like passing by. Working in the pits at the six-hundred yard range, you almost need hearing protection from the constant bullet snaps.
Yes but the crack sound is caused when the bullet is going towards you, this is because it pushes the sound waves in front of it so they squash, which in turn increases the frequency, causing a high pitched noise. This is called the dopler effect
Anywho, a friend and I were almost smoked by a suppressed AK and they were about 200m away. We could still hear the muzzle report. We later got shot at by someone we couldn't quite see (600-700m??) and heard only a LOUD snap. They were damn close too! Too far away to see what they were using though.
Lol. I like that.
