Is it even possible to set up camp effectively in the game yet?
I would totally play the "hermit" lifestyle if I knew of a way to easily get back to my hole. I get lost so easily in this game though, and refuse to use an outside source map.
If I could track my way back to my camp in the woods i'd totally be doing for some crazy hermit shenanigans. And so would my woodland friends! *laughs a little unhinged*
how did your character eventually die? it couldn't be from the loneliness, surely?
Yep. Find a persistent server and set up tents. You can also farm and hunt. You'll need to loot a bit to find a cooking pot and tripod to cook on though.
Real problem in the "mountain hermit" lifestyle is finding a secluded camp spot with access to a clean water scource. Having to run 5-10 minutes to get water gets to be a pain
It's more efficient and campy than cooking with a stick, which I hear still ruins your meat these days.
Growing food is viable but you won't find yourself fully energized and hydrated on a single crop, you need to cycle through a phase of stuffed first, or push the limits of vomiting to get both light green. Not that it's necessary if you're not looking for combat, but having a healthy status greatly reduces the chances of getting sick when drinking from ponds or streams.
Interesting, I wonder if that is intended, as it makes a little sense logically, but not that much. Drinking bad water is bad no matter how healthy you are surely.
then dont play it bro theres a lot of players liket he hermit lifestyle everyone to their own,
That is strictly YOUR opinion now, isn't it?
Other people might find it fun and exciting.
No on is asking you to play that way.
I ve been living as a DayZ hermit for quite a few weeks. Picked a spot in the woods quite far away from the nearest town (10-15 mins walk ) .
I grow crops , have 2 barrels full of water , snare traps for rabbits (havent caught any yet ) and there are a couple of hunter watchtowers in the outskirts of my forest.
My only issue is that i had to travel a lot in order to find a tent ,but to be honest i dont need one.
The only encounter i had with other people was in Svet , where a group of 3 teenager thugs were killing people on sight.(their voices and the extensive use of foul language indicated that they were 13-15 years old )
Managed to evade them by being stealthy .Got the packs of seeds i needed ,filled my canteens up with water and then i left the area.
Not boring at all . I really like RPing my character in DayZ ,exactly as i would do in a real life Apocalypse.
I dont like killing people and i do NOT trust them either ,so i simply avoid them.
Why not? What does he miss out of?
