Need watchtower help

Hey guys,

I'm building my first watchtower and I need some help.

I built the roof and 3 walls, and a put a gate on it.

I want to add a staircase so I can get upstairs and add a second level, but I can't figure out how to add additional things to it. I put more nails and planks into the base but nothings happening.

How do I add stairs and the second level to this thing?

Yeah I used a watchtower kit to place the foundation for the structure.

Are you supposed to put a watchtower kit down on top of the other watchtower?

I've already built three walls of a watchtower, the kit dropped after I used my shovel to construct it. But now that I've placed walls on it, I don't see the option to add stairs anywhere.

No you only use watchtower kit for bottom level, go somewhere near front of watchtower and look up to build the floor, then you can build stairs Bud

That's why I posted, that's not working. I think because I built the walls and stuff and didn't build the stairs at the start I can't add stairs now?

My hammer is badly damaged, but not ruined, I have a hatchet but no build options with that. I only get the option to dismantle walls and ceiling.

The roof is already on it, that's the first thing I built.

You can build it completly all the way up. Only thing I can think of is there is not enough materials in the base. I believe it's 10 planks and a Handfull of nails maybe 20.

Thanks for the help, but I discovered the problem. The issue is the attached walls. I don't know if it's always, but once a wall is attached it creates clipping issues and some things cant be built. I ran into the same issues with walls when I tried to build a line of them before constructing the frames.

So I had to destroy the wall foundations that I had built around it and I could immediately build the stairs.

lol, right? That was my initial reaction too, but I think maybe they were asking if I was trying to make one using a fence kit? But yeah, this is why when I ask a question on a form I come prepared to stab myself in the eyes at least once.

But like I said in the end it was the clipping issue.

SOLUTION: build your watchtower completely before you join any walls to it.
