Open Launcher, select the MODS Tab, click "Unload all", go back to Server Tab, Click Refresh, select a server and Click "Setup DLC and Mods", click again to confirm.

You sure its the same server? When playing on official servers, you have one character only, for all of them.

The real answer, the only solution is to play on community servers (each community server has one character)

If the solution in the first post does not work for you, then you need to:
1. Open Launcher, select the MODS Tab, click "Unload all", and then close the Launcher.
2. Go to the game's Workshop page, select "browse by subscribed mods".
3. Unsubscribe from all mods.
4. Open the Launcher again, and wait for the Launcher to update the game and remove all the mods. Select the Mod tab to confirm they are all gone.
5. Close the Launcher, and wait a few seconds, then re-launch from Steam.
6. Last, go back to Server Tab, Click Refresh, select a server and Click "join" .. depending on Official or Community server, you will click the option to "keep selection" or "Setup DLC and Mods" to start playing.
