How to escape stunlock?

How do I escape a stunlock while I have a gun in my hands? Just lost a fight to a freshie's fists while I had a pistol out. Fair play, I just want to know how to combat it. I wasn't able to shoot or run away. Should I just put my gun away and block?

The first 4 Internet search results all say to "Jump" while moving away.

The real question is, why are you not KOSing freshies if you have a gun in your hand already?

In my experience unless they are very good and caught you in a bad way, you can usually get a pistol whip in and then blast from the hip. I consider myself an amateur player at best, would love to see what real alternatives people can provide to combat stun lock in this type of scenario when it happens.

the good ol pistolwhip is faster than a heavy punch and can sometimes break the stunlock.
But in alot of cases.. you are just dead. Thats what stunlocks do. They lock you in a stun.

Yeah that crossed my mind while I was getting smacked, but I didn't have enough stamina to hit. Guess I'll just keep my distance!

Is it normal for them to just paralyze the character and all possible commands in stunlock so that even spamming f is somehow completely out of order or something?

When they go for stunlock they are forced to move forward in a straight line to complete the move which costs a good amount of their stamina (check what I mean by practising the move on Z's). If you can get your timing right its possible to side step that attack and run in the opposite direction for a bit of space.
