Btw, the particular guy I'm referring to did not have goggles on. I saw him briefly.
If you can briefly see him then he can very likely stalk you. He will hear you. I've stalked people barefoot in the dark. Listening to them looting buildings. Following them through open door ways. Moving around as quietly as possible so as not to be heard. With intimate knowledge of the towns/cities it shouldn't be too hard. Can always disappear into the darkness.
Move silently. Leave light sticks you find behind in buildings. Throw them one way and move another. Lock them in the upstairs buildings with a lock pick. Make it look like your in there. close doors behind you and listen for them opening.
There is cat and there is mouse.
You can compare the difference in someone who does this and someone who does not with Summit1G who does and Shroud who does not and Shrouds games is darker
If you had a torch the thats how they know where you are. Think how dark it is on your screen. Now imagine you have no torch and you see the whole side of a building light up, or some trees lit up from miles out. Your gonna be drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
Chemlights are best for not giving you away. Torches and toad flares broadcast your location to anyone nearby. And yep night vission is a thing, it can even be worn over a hat with the headstrap unlike the headtorch. Comes in two parts though... the googles... and either a headstrap or helmet to mount them on :)
I tend to have several characters going on various servers, so if I don't have NVG's I will often swap to another character or play another game for a while. I used to play nights on official but I got killed a few times at night as you're basically a sitting duck if another player has NVG's and you don't.
I have seen some people up their gamma but I cannot be bothered with that either... but that could be what happened here perhaps?
Was thinking the same.
afaik the nights on official 3pp servers are not that dark...you can easily navigate there without other lightsources than the moon and stars.
only on 1pp servers the nights are really dark and NVG's are basically mandatory.
(only talking about official)
Oh well I wouldn't know about that as I only play first person
