If you're playing rp or lone survivor maybe you don't need that.
Personally I play mainly lone survivor so I use the in game tourist maps, billboard maps, compasses, and when you find one a gps receiver. But... I'm lost quite a lot lol. But it doesn't matter as long as i'm surviving ...
but i recommend against it. u will learn the map faster by just playing it, instead of using external maps. being lost is kinda part of the game for a new player and half the fun to figure it all out on your own.
some of this picnic tables alongside the hiking paths have a map with a red dot on it with its locatiion.
u can find and loot the in-game map, gps and compass for navigation.
I find it much better to use the on-line iZurvive map
https://www.izurvive.com/chernarusplus/
You can have that open on Internet Browser, then ALT+TAB between Game and Browser, or use your smart-phone to view the map thru it's web browser. You do not need to download any Apps on your phone to do this.
well said . Depends if your playing solo as lone survivor or with friends. Community server you have download some mods so that you can check map by pressing M .
I dont think you can use M, or mark the map - you have to use the map and compass combined to navigate, and use landmarks/towns etc as a visual check.
Stick the map and compass in a hotbar slot.
Edit - if you dont have a compass then orientate the map roughly by using sunrise (E) & sunset (W). Top of the map is N.
I work it with full iZurvive map on screen 1 to keep tabs on friends while trying to meet up with them as well as long distance navigation, game on screen 2 and discord on screen 3 with a tablet underneath them with iZurvive on for local navigation. Even with all that I can still get lost lol
Once you have that, and a map, you can 'position' yourself on the map by reading the gps coordinates.
