and please explain the performance diffrence and why does it matter,
because on my planet: if you need to use one or the other ... at the end of the day you are dead.
never heard of a gasmask making it possible to survive, only to live long enough to get the job done.
in real life the primary reason why people buy gas masks:
They look ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome and are badass
Looks like its the same in DayZ ;)
the asbestos is needed and is not harmfull, IF the filter is not damaged.
but if you need to put on a gas mask in a zombie apocalypse, you dont care about geting cancer.
threats to your health could be powder or paint in closed rooms, a fire with alot of smoke, cleaning a chemical tank at work etc. but in any of those cases you would have a modern filter and a civillian gasmask with much better protection.
and even if you would have to use one to rescure someone of of a with gas flooded labratory,
you can not be forced to put it on and go in there, calling for help is always enough.
but your time is limited to the 15 min
From what I have seen it seems like there will be "toxic" areas, such as open mass graves which couldn't be navigated safely without a working gasmask. Getting sick from the smell as well as from diseases spread from corpses is one of their main intended functions I believe. That and protection vs gas/smoke grenades maybe.
