nothing was changed with the nails in 1.21
It actually is pretty consistent, you just need to know how it works.
You can set certain values for loot in a server. I try to simplyfy it^^
"total/maximum ammount" (lets say for example 30 boxes of nails on the server)
"minimum ammount" (lets say 5 boxes of nails)
The server is supposed to have 30 boxes of nails on the server at any time.
And the server is supposed to have a minimum of 5 boxes of nails.
When you pick up those nails, they will slowly but surely spawn again in buildings that have a free lootslot until the server has reached 30 boxes of nails again.
HOWEVER, Especially right after a wipe, people are farming nails alot, which leads to the number actually being UNDER 30, most of the time.
This is where the minimum value comes into play. When the total number of box of nails that are laying around goes UNDER 5 boxes of nails, the server will fill up the total number of boxes back up to 30 on the next lootcycle or serverrestart.
That means, when you cant seem to find a item, you are probably VERY close to the minimum value, when a few more boxes of nails will be found, the server will fill them back up to 30 instantly.
All of a sudden there is nails "everywhere".
This explains, why sometimes you cant seem to find a item whatsoever, and when you finally find it.... its everywhere.
I was using the word inconsistent by it's definition. Not to get all technical with ya, but the definition of inconsistent is "not staying the same throughout".
Your description of how the loot tables work is a good description. But as you've described, the number of items does not remain consistent due to the respawn time.
I may not have described how the loot table works because I wasn't exactly sure, but we basically said the same thing in the end. Point being OP will eventually find what he or she is looking for. :)
I got spoiled from BBP and EvenMoreDoors. I jsut can't bring myself to build a gate in a house that clips thru walls...it's just so...cringy.
yeah thats true but you can still have a lot of fun with bases in vanilla, people make the mistake of using the base to store all their stuff
True. Last week I found a base full of crap on Official. Just took a little ammo and a backpack.
I guess I am a nice guy, I get cringy watching videos on Reddit of folks just despawning everything.
