how to play in PVE servers

do i need to download some kind of a launcher or server browser or what?
im new to the game and i heard there's alot of cheaters on vanila servers

Just start the game, on the launcher window, select server type official / community, find the server you want, don't click join. Use the small down arrow next to join it will open the server info page. Next to mods numbers is 'more details' click on that and it opens a list of the mods being used on that server, bottom of the window click 'set up dlcs and mods and join'. Obviously if it's using a lot of mods that might trigger a hefty download, but only once. People use DZSA launcher, but you don't have to.

Yeah, this might be a point I missed, because i'm only ever connecting to my own 2 servers lol.

i just want to know why the game keeps on downloading and the download keeps on going from 3gb to 21gb like im just gonna sleep and leave the pc on download cuz it downloaded like 60gb and i didn't even play the game

Once you have found the server you want to play theres not much need for the 3rd party one, it's just quicker at finding new servers

just type into the search bar PVE vanilla,there are lots of them out there that wont require any mods and they usually have their own discord you can join to make friends and stuff

You got to download the mods the server is using yes. But once you have done that once (for each mod) then if another server is using that same mod the game just uses it from your pc, not download again. So over time you will build up a mod library on your pc if you keep switching to different servers with different mods all the time. Ofc this can be good, or bad depending on your view (and spare storage space lol). Honestly some of the servers are just total overkill with the mods, to the point that it's pretty much killed off the survival aspect with traders, bases, helios, speedboats, money, bitcoin, easy refuelling, airdrops and on and on and on and on and on.....(just my opinion ofc, no need for any bandwagon jumpers to fire up their mr indignant keyboards, as I've stated it's just my opinion).

If you are new try not playing PVE servers...or at least try a PVE/PVP server. Without PVP your really missing the excitement DayZ has to offer.

A valid opinion of course. But that's all it is, much enjoyment can be had from Dayz without the PvP aspect, which must be why there are a lot or RP/PvE servers I guess. It's kind of annoying in a way that PvPers always feel the need to comment about people playing the game as PvE.
Please don't comment with anything so dull as 'it's the way it's intended to be played', a game opened by the developers to being modded via the game files, and with 40000 mods listed in the workshop, clearly has no defined way to be played.

Pvp has always been the core element of the game and the way it was meant to be played that’s why the official servers are not pve

Take away the pvp and it’s a camping simulator lol
