Chill out on the mods! jeez!
Is it just me or is it getting crazy hard to find a server that isn't massively stacked with mods?

Like don't get me wrong, I don't mind mods, they add some cool features, different ways to play the game, even fix some of the shortcomings of the default game, but these days, you log into a server and there's 200 ammo types, 300 different guns, 50 different vehicles, not even including choppers or boats, 30 extra add-on meds...etc etc., it's crazy, and more than half of it doesn't even get used from my experience, can't we have a few more lightly modded servers?

Yeah I know what you mean, I've spent a number of hours downloading files for a server that turned out to be pretty average.

For about $26.00 (US) a month, you can have any kind of Server you want ...

I play on Northman vanilla. The fun of DayZ to me is never knowing what gear the person you're gonna fight has, and the thrill of getting good loot off someone. On these mega modded servers everybody drops a spec ops soldier's worth of gear and it loses the appeal for me

Sure you can, we have one if you're interested!

Mine costs about $2.50 Aud Per month...
AND it currently supports 4 games.

To be fair, not everyone has a "spare" PC lying around...

I'll give you a quick tip, only morons pay that much for server hosting, "game server" providers are ripping you off, but they do that because they know most of the people paying for their services are 12 year old's who actually require things like cPanel to install mods etc.

I do have my own server (hardware included), and that's fine and all, it'd just be nice to see a few more less insanely modded servers around ya know?

Exactly this, plus the earlier comment, download a bunch of mods (required all the time because server owners feel the need to repack every mod into their own "server mod") only to get in and find its....pretty average, or the community is crap, or something is broken etc.

Servers these days feel like some child has opened steam workshop, typed weapon and installed every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapon mod that showed up, they then did the same with clothing, ammo, meds, and cars...and then they wonder why their server runs like dog crap.

I used to be anti-mod but I've decided there's just too many fun, well thought out additions. My server is still mostly vanilla, I just added some clothing packs and tons of different animals (cats, dogs, squirrels, rats, etc, etc.). Also I made it so that you have to sleep once in a while and you're able to get struck by lightning! Oh also. BICYCLES. And a few other minor additions...

Nice, I was never saying mods in general are bad, I've got around 10 or so on my server myself, honestly BBP or something similar is almost mandatory until BI makes vanilla building less crap, I also use some base storage mods because...lets be honest, its nice to have an actual gun rack right? rather than a sea chest or barrel with all your gear in it, and i don't mind some of the other more game changing mods either, although, I don't even count some of those servers as dayz servers, even if they are lightly modded, just because they're...kind of not dayz anymore. ya know?, like if you add Pripyat, plus a bunch of stalker mods, even if its just a few...its...more stalker than dayz, cool, but i don't count that lol.

Just the tip? ..
I can see by your fox-tailed waifu emoji, that I'm old enough to be your dad, so I'll forgive your attempt at belittlement, but you really should not assume to know facts not provided. I also don't spend much time socializing with "12 year olds", so I'm sure you know better than I do how tech-savy they are.

That said, if I was to want to host a Server for more than 10 random strangers, I certainly would pay $26.00 a month to avoid the bandwidth overhead of 30-60 players, and the possibility of bad-actors trying to hack my home network. The fee is less about the Service, and more about the Security. To use your own words, only a moron would open their private network to the general public. I guess if you only have your 10 discord friends playing, or you are one of those scripted streamers, maybe it's not a big deal for you.

I can see how that you thought that was supposed to be an insult and got all toxic, so clearly, no, you're not old enough to be my dad, and if you are, well to be honest, good effort having fingers that still work that well at your age, but kinda sad.

No, i was just pointing out that most of those "game server" server hosting companies are ripping you off, its a bad deal, there's better ways to rent hardware...salty old f@#k

Hmm, if you rent /host a server and you're the one paying or home hosting, then you can add whatever the F+++ mods you want. If you don't like, just don't play on it. But just don't go crying about it because it doesn't fit your idea of what's right or wrong. As for paying for server hosting, well that's just a smart choice, no security issues and easy usage. Well the cost? yes, I can rent for a year and it still be way cheaper than building a decent hosting machine, and my rental costs can be stopped at any point and restarted as I like, unlike having to fork out up front for a dedicated machine. Enough said.
