Obvious best/or worst weapons i need to be aware of?...

new to the PvP scene still, any weapons i should not rely on to kill even with headshots, let alone body shots? (depending on range, or enemy armor, etc)

Worst weapons against players? Probably anything .22 Sporter and mk11. IJ is pretty terrible. If you are fighting players with armor the Pioneer and SG aren't very good.
Best weapons? For me it's hard to go past a shotgun with buckshot. For cqb it's arguably one of the best weapons regardless of whether an enemy has armor. I think the double barrel is one of the few weapons that you can find early in a characters life and still holds up late game. Same goes for the mosin. Both weapons are very effective. Late game Sawed off famas, AK101, AUG AX, SVD, FAL are probably my picks.

fyi, pioneer ak101 and aug fire the same ammo... so the above statement is slightly contradictory.

obviously caliber matters. .308 and 7.62x54 are going to have the highest stopping power. anything .45 for handguns is best (not counting longhorn). anything single-shot I avoid like the zen virus. semi-auto or nothing, I always say. IRL too...

Favorite weapons are subjective and hit points vary per weapon.
A quick search brought up the following site. I'm sure you can find similar charts and such to make comparisons, but nothing beats trying the weapons out yourself to see what works best for you.

Subjectively, I prefer the FX-45 Pistol, the M4 Rifle, The AUG-AX variant of the AUG rifle, The Savanna hunting Rifle and the UMC45 sub machine gun. The 133 pump-action shot gun is nice (very effective under 50 meters), but shotguns can not be silenced, so don't fit my play-style very well. Best Melee weapon is the Sledgehammer or 2nd, the Fire Axe.

Pioneer best sniper riflie in the game (if you planning to kill people over 600 meters) even better than vsd.

Thanks captain obvious. FYI 2 are ARs and one is a sniper..
I stand by what I said players with a plate will tank a pioneer shot it's not a great sniper against armored players. A single 5.56 shot is nowhere near as effective as a full auto AR using the same round.

Uhm .. None of those 3 rifles are "AR's" .. There is literally no "AR" in the game, only the Military variants, the M4 and M16, which were not on your list

Also, FWIW, the M4 and M16 variants of the Armalite AR platform are actually produced by Colt, if I recall correctly

the MK II with its built-in suppressor, large mag and 50 shot ammo packs is the perfect Zed annihilator, though.

Agreed. perfect starter weapon. Except on my server, the infected with the Zen Virus are stronger so sometimes a headshot or two doesn't kill them.

Shotguns are a extremely effective defensive weapon. Also decent intimidation as nobody wants to get 1 tapped or get their armor smashed. Mosin is a great people hunter, M4 is your best skirmishing/travel weapon. Also a sign of status. Famas has a ridiculous firerate which can be great or ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Don't forget the often over-looked B95 Blaze! .308 you can take 2 sniper shots before cycling (it's a break-open 2 shot).

Agree with others on a shotty, Viaga semi-suto, MP133 pump, or any are great for CQC. Great backup for sniping.

M4A1 and trusty AK variants are good as well...paticularly the AKM.
