Thank you for the link and map. Towns that I've cleared repeatedly show on the map as being towns that are supposed to have them. I guess just bad luck so far.
Nice! I still haven't found one, and I've cleared the majority of another city.
The loot tables have absolutely no balance to them whatsoever and I've had the same results in high to low public servers as well as my own dedicated server where I was the only player in the map. I tested it on purpose.
Don't expect much from BI. This mod disguised as a game plays like it's still in early access. That's why there's so many mods for it that keep it afloat and a couple actually fix things that BI can't seem to figure out. Without modders, DayZ wouldn't have lasted nearly this long.
But BI did do a great job on the official maps. The mechanics...not so much.
bro this is dayz. The point of the game is in its randomness. If every Item couldve been found on spesific spots than we mith aswell just slap on some textures and call it rust. Its not like you get what you need instead you get what you find.
Yeah, I get that and I don't deny it. And a good player/survivor makes due with what is found.
Plainly speaking, my point is...and this is just my take on it...they went too far with that notion where I feel it's too far out of balance. It can be random without going to extremes.
When I bought the game, folks were saying it was the most realistic survival game out there. I don't feel that it's at all realistic. Realistic to me means it makes sense in real world terms. The best example is water bottles. There's billions of them in the real world, ergo I don't feel, on any given run through, I should be 2 - 3 hours (sometimes more) into my run before I find one. Other runs, they're all over the place. But I can consistently find Wellies, raincoats, Capri pants, and carnival masks in abundance on every single run. Not everyone owns Wellies, a raincoat, Capri pants, or a carnival mask in the real world.
It's also been said that DayZ is hardcore. I disagree with that too. Once I got my bearings, the environmental aspect of survival in DayZ became stupidly simple. There's nothing hardcore about it to me.
I feel some things were overthought and some, hardly at all and in order for both of those claims, realistic and hardcore, to be true, there needs to be a balance struck that I don't see in DayZ.
On a different note, I think BI needs to lazer focus on bugs and performance issues and actually make progress in that regard. Adding a lot more content or making further "tweaks" with the existing problems will likely create more problems. One example is that I'm still seeing infected clipping through doors and other "solid" objects and have been killed as a result. You don't put new plugs in your car if your timing is off. The 1.20 update was supposed to have focused on bugs and performance. All I see is more of the same and some new issues.
Don't take all this as me hating on DayZ...I really like it. I simply don't feel it lives up to it's reputation. Gamers have become complacent in regard to demanding tangible results from developers and it shows. I think BI needs to up their game. Then DayZ could conceivably be the best survival game ever made. Unfortunately after 10 years, I think they'd have to put out part 2 to make that happen and not lean on modders to prop up their product.
