Dayz keeps downloading 54 of uiseless mods, help
Have not played for a really long time, decided to play with my buddies and i unsubscribed from all the mods i had (i had 70gb of mods installed). I unsubbed from the mods and deleted my workshop content folder to clean up space on my pc but now, whenever i'm trying to download even a small mod (1-2gb) IT just keeps downloading the old ones.

I'm sure that i unsubscribed from everything, all i can tell, whenever i delete workshop > downloads, the old mods appear when i start downloading the new mods.

Mods can be problematic in any game. That's why I don't use them.
If you're positive you've unsubed from all mods, you may want to consider reinstalling the game unless someone who uses mods a lot can suggest a fix.

you can go to Steam/ settings/ downloads and clear the download cache.

Since no one has a fix for that, and I looked everywhere, I managed to fix this issue for both DayZ and ARMA 3
Here is how I fixed this without having to redownload the entire game.

Browse to local game directory. Change the DayZ folder name to DayZ Old
Download a tool called revo uninstaller, look for dayz inside revo and hit uninstall (Skip the restore point option), should trigger steam for the uninstall then it should scan for leftovers, delete all the left overs detected on revo, go back to the dayz directory, go back to the steam folder there should be a workshop folder, delete its contents, go back to the dayz folder, delete anything config related.

Change the DayZ folder name back to DayZ, open steam, hit install dayz and choose the same drive that had the previous install, it should now validate the files, download maybe 20mbs and you should be good to go.

That won’t fix the issue

You need to unsubscribe from all mods that you subscribed to

or just delete the content of this folder:
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\221100

Oh ok

I think the other launcher puts the mods in a different folder

When I unsubbed from all mods it worked but I had to reboot after

The key is;
1. Launch the Launcher, select the Mods tab, click the "Unload All" button, and close the Launcher.
2. Go to the Workshop, select "Browse by" and scroll down to "subscribed mods" .. unsubscribe from all.
3. After unsubbing, you need to launch the launcher again, and allow it to update (remove mods), and then shut down the launcher. Go to your game install folder to verify the shortcuts in the !Workshop folder have been removed.

You are now mod free.

If There Are Any Mods Outside Of Steam Then The Delete Folder Method Will Work

Found out my own solution.

Make these preparations

I also recommend to clear steam downloads cache in settings

1. Open SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\appworkshop_221100.acf file
2. Remove everything inside brackets of "WorkshopItemDetails" and "WorkshopItemsInstalled". Make this part of file look like
"WorkshopItemsInstalled" { } "WorkshopItemDetails" { }
3. Save file.
4. Try to open and close launcher several times and make sure there is no downloads starting
5. Start to subscribe needed mods and you will see how file is being updated with only freshly added mods

Hoping this works for me!

I’ve got like 200GB of mods installed and really only play on about 5 different servers. Way too much trial and error over the last year+ on different servers that I’ll never play again.
