I would even argue that your hearing is your most important asset in DayZ. Turn that volume, UP.
Sound is verry important ,, best settings set game sound verry high and than OS sound up.
And turn you tunes off... Lol.
So many people seem to listen to music while playing...
Bears can spawn anywhere, except towns.
Wolves can spawn anywhere, even the shore.
Given the large map and the very small increase in active wolves/bears you still don't run into them often - but it is new to keep an eye out even in between towns along the coast.
Generally if you do not injure the bear in any way they won't out right kill you. Now if you wake up before bleeding out, that's a different story.
Not 100% true. I've had bears chase me just for getting too close. But it seems they did change it recently so that even firing a weapon doesn't automatically make them run to you. A few patches back they would aggro off sound just like infected.
