Zombies broken/super OP
The zombies are way too overpowered. They have the ***** senses and always know where you are. Like they will always "naturally" just walk towards you if your standing still or are in a building. They always turn to look at you even if you are not doing anything, from far away. the pathfinder is quite frankly garbage. They always go through container walls, the pathfinder is super obvious, like they know exactly where all the exits are for any building and will immediately run to it. Like if its chasing me 30m away, i turn 4 corners and hide in a closet and it will find me no matter what. They know where all the entrances and exits are in any given building, Its ridiculous.
The pathfinder is less then ideal, and even yesterday i was alive for 6 hours and got killed cause a bunch of zombies kept going through the container walls, even though the walls was closed.
I know for sure some is gonna message me crying about how its a "skill issue", or a "Its not a bug its a feature".

I have no idea how you would have found that out anyways, or maybe you can only do it via xbox, because before i installed the game itself i tried to go onto the community page, which didnt work because restrictions because i didnt have the game purchased...

You know, I was thinking about this very thing this morning over coffee and the faithfully entertaining Steam DayZ Discussion forum (I know kind of a sick way to start your day, but it beats reading the news, reddit, nextdoor, etc.). And have come to the conclusion that there is an emotional investment folks make, even within games, and the gaming community.

Sometimes this emotional investment goes pretty deep. Emotions, in general are not logical, and evolve in a complex way. I think the term folks throw around is "fan boy" which is kinda derogatory. Regardless, I believe people who are emotionally vested in a game, often have a difficult time processing criticism, or find it challenging exploring that relationship. It's kinda similar to how couples therapy, substance abuse or PTSD therapy is hard. It's difficult to rationally look at a relationship (even with a game/gaming community) and identify the faults, make objective honest decisions about that relationship, and make positive change.

In a nutshell, it's kinda like folks in an abusive relationship, in that often the problem is recognizing the partner/substance/ or game in this example has fundamental flaws. By admitting that the relationship/game is flawed, somehow this is translated into a flaw of the self, and judgement, regret, and anger often are part of that process. It's easier to deny the flaws, and reflect that emotional fear back to those pointing out that the flaws exist.

I myself am guilty of this from time to time. For ♥♥♥♥♥ sakes I have 12k hrs in DayZ. Thats like 1.36 YEARS! If I think about it long enough, man it's kinda sad and depressing! On the other hand, I have spent 1.36 years doing something I enjoy. (If your curious, I wouldn't recommend looking up how much t.v. folks watch in a lifetime before I get ragged on for my hours!)

So when folks challenge folks who have a strong emotional attachment to said game, it's actually pretty darned impossible for them to even SEE those flaws. It's always like, it's NOT a bug, it's a FEATURE! Kinda like, "abusive husband only hits me because I'm doing something wrong" because it would be really challenging to the self to admit the problem could potentially be an issue with the game/community/relationship.

In short, it's difficult to take criticism sometimes, and when valid points concerning DayZ issues crop up, there will naturally be a self-defense mechanism rearing it's head imploring one to deny said faults. It's an emotional response, not a logical objective one. :steamhappy:

Like i said my observation of seeing a crappy game with crappy pathfinding mechanics has nothing to do with my hours or anything. I bought the game for 60 USD. I most defantly have the right to complain about how horrible the pathfinding mechanics are. Bohemnia instead of fixing this, decides to throw out more DLC paid maps like a bone to us dogs. And they add knight armor and crossbows.. Meanwhile the zombies are literally going through walls, and clowns like you are saying its a "skill issue" 🤡🤡
You have even commented before on one of my other discussions, and i have a pretty solid explanation of what your doing. You are saying this or that is a skill issue on my part because i dont have enough experience to know to avoid it because its buggy..
Like how was i supposed to know that the zombies can walk through container walls, and they have ESP that brings them right to all exits on a building they didnt hear or see me get into.

Same way your not "supposed" to get flung through the map, get stuck through doors, get stuck in walls, and fall through roofs.
And the game is not "supposed" to bug and be a glitchy, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
That is the problem with this game. If everything works as advertised, i would not have any problem and nobody would ever complain. The game rarely works as intended.

Same way your not "supposed" to get flung through the map, get stuck through doors, get stuck in walls, and fall through roofs.
And the game is not "supposed" to bug and be a glitchy, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
That is the problem with this game. If everything works as advertised, i would not have any problem and nobody would ever complain. The game rarely works as intended.

it sounds like you are having computer or connection issues if you have those types of things happening

what are your system and connection specs,
are you using wifi to play dayz

Yes, sometimes it seems they just walk into your direction even when you haven´t triggered them yet but tbh other times they are pretty stupid so it may all just really be random and coincidence.

Also who says they don´t know their ways around. They are infected, not braindead zombies. You sound like you haven´t really understood how to handle them efficently and are just overly frustrated.

When I have an "annoying" infected who seems to to constantly walk in my direction no matter what I do when sneaking I put some lead between his eyes with a silenced pistol, that has so far always fixed their "pathfinding". Throwing a rock or something else to distract them can also be really helpful.

Can´t say much to wallphasing infected because I haven´t seen this happen yet.
This sort of thing happens constantly in the game scum yes but I haven´t seen this happen in dayz so far so idk.

Don´t run away if it is just a single infected, instead hit him with your weapon if he gets into your face by pressing F and then either shoot him or quickly swap to your melee weapon and also don´t forget you can negate all incoming melee damage by blocking.

If there is a bunch of them close to eachother don´t engage them directly, instead climb up somewhere and shoot them from there or from the safety of a house.

I have 44ms for the server, which is the lowest ping server for California. This isn’t a issue on my part, the game is just unreliable. I have seen a lot of people complaining about this as well. This is a issue on the part of the game

What I’m complaint about is their inconsistency in spawning and pathfinding. They spawn very inconsistently. Like I will talk through a spawn town not see any zombies for 5 minutes, turn a corner and there is like 8-9 of them in a small little area. I understand how to deal with them, but no matter what they are irritating as hell, inconsistent, buggy, and a general annoyance. Espeally in spawn towns where i don’t have anything

Sadly, once you have 100 hours in the game, you will wish the infected weren't so easy to avoid/kill.

Zombies are tragically easy. They don't even need to be in the game if you know how to deal with them (aka don't, just sneak). They give 0 difficulty after a while, and you'll end up taking long breaks from DayZ as it's just a boring running/looting sim now..

It's the pathetic spawn system DayZ has. As the engine is incapable of pre-spawning or leaving static infected events, it's just gonna be like that. It takes the engine an annoying amount of time (5min really?) to start spawning in infected. I really wish this changed, it's probably my #1 complaint about PVE aspects of DayZ...the pathetic infected/animal spawn.

Sure would be nice if they just spawned in on server start. Animals and infected roaming would change the feel immediately as both infected/animals would be less predictable, and actually hunting would be interesting, rather then just go to the bear spot and kill it, know exactly where zombies spawn in what towns, etc. Would:steamdeadpan: be nice if they herded up as well...

When triggering a Z spawn they will spawn in a tight bunch. I've seen it a lot on empty servers where I am the only player triggering the Z spawns. I run around without fear of meeting another player and then turn a corner and see bunched up Z's that I have triggered. This can be altered with modding.

This does not happen as much on a high pop server because I know that on a high pop server that when approaching a town with widely dispersed Z's that someone else has triggered that spawn. Maybe that person is still in town.....maybe they are dead....or have already left.

It sounds to me like your playing on a low pop server if this is constantly happening to you.

It's statements like this from no disrespect an inexperienced player that rubs people the wrong way. The problem is your statements don't align with the experience of people who've played 1000s of hours. They do not always walk through container walls in fact I can't remember that happening to me. There might be a couple of bugged containers somewhere but this is not the general rule.
Once a zombie is agroed on you yes they will run to the building you are in and get in if they can or wait outside. Avoid agroing them it's not that hard and if you do agro one kill it. It's a game it doesn't have to be 100% realistic. Like any other game most people learn the mechanics and develop ways to deal with them. Not jump into a forum and tell the devs how to suck eggs after playing 200hrs.
The infected are not perfect I agree but they are not game breakingly bad like you are making out. BI is aware of the issues and have said they are working on changes to the way AI interacts with players.
