Lag every time I close inventory
I lag every single time I close my inventory. Sometimes it will only be for like half a second, sometimes it will freeze for 5 seconds. I uninstalled dayz sa, steam, and dzsa launcher and re downloaded them all on the same drive (ssd) and it is still happening

just the mods needed for the DayOne servers
There are about 8 different DayOne servers, actually listing the Mods you are using would be most helpful here ..
But I felt generous, because it's messed up how Filia keeps hijacking threads, so I went and looked at several DayOne server mod load-outs .. Depending on which one you were playing, I see several Mods that will cause your issue, and one specific that I myself have had the problem with .. IF you were playing the ones that use the Expansion mod, you have to make a choice to either put up with the lag, stop playing servers that run the Expansion mod, or get a WAYYY better PC, as the Expansion mod is not just Asset Heavy, but has many very heavy Scripts that run to make all those nice Assets work correctly..
If you do NOT use the servers with the Expansion mod, there are still a few other mods that are "large" or "heavy" .. again, same choices.

I am not calling your PC a potato, I have no idea what you have, I am saying that the Mods that are running take MORE PC power than the game it-self, to run, so "game pc specs" do not apply, and you need much better than "recommended" level hardware .. this is why Consoles do not support Mods, they can't, they too "small/slow/weak".
It's not a VRam problem or CPU either, since the usage starts low and this happens instantly when you spawn.
Close the inv, the game freezes for a second

Can't blame our PCs man, everyone has been doing that since I first compained about it not running with 8gigs of ram since this game launched!!

Spare me

Hey bud..
i had the same issue on my old pc.... Its one of the reasons i upgraded.....
It is very likely related to your hardware... im sorry..
I have this issue and I have 32gb ram and 6 in my gtx1650 super if I remember well, I dont think it come from the PCs settings but maybe some compatibility maybe, Im not a pro in this field but I know that with 32gb ram its not normal to have this kind of problems

This a known issue https://feedback.bistudio.com/T146001 that appears to manifest itself when DayZ is installed to a different storage partition other than your Steam installation.

If the video did not help you, try:
"go into the DayZ folder, right click on the DayZ_x64.exe, go into "Properties" and the "Compatibility" tab and tick the box for "Disable full screen optimisation"."

Mentalpatient also posted very good troubleshooting tips!

I'm sure you know you know but did you try right clicking on dayz' name in your list of steam games and going to properties, then clicking on installed files and then clicking on "verify integrity of game files" ?

I think that might be it!!

Have steam on the HDD and DayZ on the SSD.

:)

Its the same for me, has always been like this from day 1. Old pc was 9600k and 2060 Super and new is 13600kf and 3080 and it still stutters. Both had 32gb of ram and both are on ssds

VSync disabled? I get weird crap with VSync disabled on a new rig. Turning on VSync eliminates many issues, stuttering, tearing, etc.

Put it all in the same SSD as Steam, done.

But it gives you Input Lag :(

Is the improvement really noticeable?

I've been playing a while after upgrading the Ram and doing the trick of installing the game in the same drive as Steam and I got V-Sync off w/o issues now (I think? In comparison to how it ran before?)
Vitdom Aug 2, 2023 @ 2:22am
V-Sync does 2 things:
It synchronizes the rendering of frames to your monitor refresh rate.
It introduces a draw-buffer, meaning the next screen will not get displayed until it has finished rendering.

This effectively leads to lower resource usage on the system and some small Lag especially on low-end machines which can not handle high FPS. The lower your FPS, the higher the Lag. HOWEVER, without V-sync you will not get a steady amount of frames/FPS and sometimes you will feel a lot of difference depending on heavy game events.

My advice is to always turn on V-sync if you have a good monitor and a good PC which can give you high FPS. If you have problems with low FPS, try reducing each graphics setting at a time and see what causes the low FPS. If it is CPU or GPU-dependent (check DayZ performance Guides) upgrade the bottlenecking component.

What about using V-Sync and 40 frames capped at 720p?

It's to not ever 95% the CPU.

I've heard that changing resolutions screw up the game, others say limiting the frames is bad, others say V-Sync gives you hiccups and you lose 1-2 frames, others like you say V-Sync stabilizes the game...

Who do I believe? lol
All the change I see with V-sync from on to off is the 2 fps improvement and the screen tearing comes back (of course).

Plus the few MiliSecond input lag disappears when you move the camera quickly or attack w/o V-Sync.

For example I've never played CSGO well with V-Sync. turn it off and magically the flick-shots start connecting...

So it's this game that only benefits from monitor Sync I guess bcs of stability?
