once u dont need anymore metalwire, u will find plenty^^
Mind you, the more elaborate your base is, the more enticing it looks to raiders. I just raided some sloppy crew today by dismantling some of their perimeter walls, and built a raid tower out of the planks, nails, and logs. Then I crawled over their glitched double gate.
What I needed: Pickaxe, rope, 4 sticks, meat tenderizer
What I left with: 2 grenade launchers, 14 boom nades, several pox nades, 2 NVG, black plate, AUR AX...
The more effort you spend on your base, the more likely it is that someone pops in to see what's good.
If i should tell you a specific number of time playing before you have the basic just to build a fence or base as a solo it would probally be around 5-10 hours of playing, with that said, you still have at least 8 hours of playtime to be done. Also keep in mind that u need to avoid death or have a shelter to store your things before you lose it all to that death

Here you can see that a min of 50 will spawn on the server, with a nominal of 70. This is from a vanilla items.xml file. I am pretty sure all Official Servers will have this setting.
However, if you are playing on a Community Server, well, who knows. Community Server Admins will generally change item spawns for specific items for a multitude of reasons.
For reducing wire, it's a good chance the Admin for the server wants to prevent base building, or reduce it, by making the wire really hard to find. It's an easy fix to reduce base building, or whatever, by reducing an item layers can use. This is frequently done with sniper rifles and tier 3 weapons fyi.
Or your just getting DayZed...unable to find the one item you are looking for...that's been a thing since day 1. I personally feel Bohemia has some kind of mystical code to do this!
