The point of having a craftable bow is exactly that - that it is craftable, with mats you can start scavenging from the second you spawn on the beach. Once the bow is back they can at long last do a major rebalance pass of the loot economy, something that hasn't really been done properly ever since 0.63 hit experimental. They've been adding more and more weapons but not taken the time to really look over how loot progression actually works.

Back in 0.62 you would actually use a Trumpet or a Derringer - or craft the bow - because you wouldn't get an SKS or AKS74U in the very first mil tent you visited. Getting guns with matching ammo took time (unless you were lucky) - and that's how it should be.

Now, the bow is also silent, which makes it a solid alternative for popping zombies or trolling - or even killing - other lowbies.

So, it definitely has its place - just as the Derringer - even though moast coastal warriors will consider it useless, since DayZ for them is all about getting an AK and spraying anything that moves.

As for when it will come back, I have my hopes for this year but you never know. The thing that holds it back is not really physics (trajectory of arrows and whatnot) but animations. Making proper animations for loading an arrow, pulling the string, releasing or not releasing etc etc - it's a lot of animation work - and animators is something they share with other developments in BI. Reforger will not have bows... When the DayZ team are granted the necessary resources it will eventually happen, but yeah it might be it won't happen until Arma4 is out..

assuming information isn't the way to go. not sure why you are calling me out, lots of others agree with me in this thread. maybe an ego issue. speaking off lies i didn't know dayz added choppers to vanilla according to your review.

that video u commented on was about MODDED vehicles. and yea - obviously this mods do well enough i guess.

as if they took those things out to piss u off.
there was huge engine change with 1.0 and a lot of things had to be redone.
its not some copy/paste job.

theres a lot of misinformation goin on resulting in anger.
