How do you know from which location you got shoot?
Hi, when i get shoot i look in all directions and try to locate the gunner but then it's already to late and i get gunned down since PVP in close combat is a split second thing
How do you know from where you got shoot like how do you know u got hit from behind left or right?

well, long time since I last got shot but usually you locate them by the direction from where the gunfire comes ;)
and even if you didn't hear the shot you should be able to tell the direction by the impact sound on your body iirc (or the bullets whizzing by).

in theory blood splat on left of screen you got shot from left, bottom of screen from behind etc... not often you get the chance to figure it out in heat of moment though, especially if they are on full auto. If you use headphones then sound is helpful too as the shot sound lingers allowing you to pinpoint. You probably can't beat map and building layout knowledge though. The best players i've seen seem to go into any situation already knowing what angles they are open and closed to.

yeah, 5.1 sound or virtual surround is essential in this game.

Use headphones and ensure you have windows set to sound enhancement too and you will get a good aural indication by the shot sound. Also the blood splatter if you play with that option selected gives a clue.

But if you get shot best thing to do is run for cover and then think of trying to locate the shooter, If you didn't see them before hand then stopping to look around for them is a death sentence to you and a gift to them.

i think stereo just works fine. u can easily pinpoint sound direction.
i would always prefer stereo headphones to "surround" headphones.

I don't use headphones and on speakers this is definitely not the case.

Yeah, using stereo (without any sound enhancers) works more than fine. Together with good headphones (no gaming headsets/phones) its the best solution for me. Usually i know the exact angle and nearly the exact distance of an enemy in most shooter games.

If you are shot from behind you fall forwards when you die and the other way around

Money isn't necessarily the distinction in this case. The most expensive and highest quality headphones you can get are going to be stereo. They can cost several hundreds, up to thousands of dollars.

Decent surround sound headphones can be had for less than $100. They're not going to sound as good as similarly priced stereo headphones, but they will give an exaggerated sound field and occasionally even DSP to enhance footsteps as well as spatial audio cues. Gaming surround headphones are not made to sound as realistic as possible but rather give you an edge in competitive FPS games.

If you have an X-Fi soundcard, you can potentially use it with driver software to create a virtual surround sound effect, which will give you audio cues if someone is in front of you, behind you, or even above you. It's an outdated solution but still works if you have a compatible soundcard.

Personally, I prefer 5.1 speakers. Nothing compares to a real soundstage where it sounds like you're actually there and your body can feel the sound. Not just that but it's a lot more comfortable not having anything on your head/ears for prolonged periods of time. I can crank the volume to hear even the slightest noise within range, but the volume isn't deafening in the same way as it can be with headphones. If you can afford a good surround sound system, it's basically a better experience in every way.
