Plate Carriers?

I thought they were working in experimental, now we just tested it and the plate carrier didn't stop a .45 round? it ruined instantly and my friend nearly died. instantly uncounsious. he just suicided. all his gear was ruined as well.

Ever see a tv show where someone gets shot and you think the character is dead because they got knocked down and are out of breath from taking one to the bullet proof vest? That's not exaggeration. That happens normally.

Your friend took a .45 round and got KO'd, not killed so I think it worked.

i had one on one time took like 3-7 AK rounds was not even bleeding i ran away fine but you know its DAYZ anything can happen

My confusion is i have taken ak rounds point blank with the carrier and not even bled, but a single .45 was a death penalty.. I know it should have insta killed him rather than knocked him out bleeding, but he took a significant health loss instantly. I have survived multiple shots with them on in experimental, and took an ak from less than a foot away.. are we saying .45 does more intial damage than rifle rounds? I'm confused.

Vests are hit and miss. I have taken a burst from an AKM at about 20 feet max wearing a high cap vest and didn't even start bleeding. Other times I have been drooped from a 9mm. It's pretty situational. You just have to get lucky.

I have read stories from soldiers who were wearing similar vests with a ceramic shock plate. It stopped the round but still broke ribs. Also when you take a hit in a ceramic plate like that you have to remove it very fast or you can suffer burns. The ceramic becomes extremely hot from the impact.

it almost completely killed him as well and all his gear was ruined. He killed himself because he was so damaged it wasn't worth trying to heal him. he was also bleeding profusely. a few more seconds and he would have died anyway, he suicided for fun.

I think range matters. As in, there is damage dropoff. So if you did it point blank, it would be different than if you did the test at 50m.

Yeah this is some annoying thing. Once on the Airfield i shot a guy with my AKM like 5-10 bullets into his back at a range of less than 10M. Everything got destroyed except for his backpack... That this that took all bulltes.

Its starting to sound to me that we don't know how the damage model works in general, or that it still needs work. I was hoping for a yes or no answer from someone who was sure, but it looks like even if the code is there for the plate to work the damage model just still needs polishing. For those debateing the armour level of a standard issue US millitary plate carrier, ask someone you know who served. I just had a conversation with a guy in our clan who is sitting in a barracks. Those who talked about range I agree with, we were very close so I bet your correct.
