A good option for the developers would be that they let ourselves choose between the current and previous crosshair, so that everyone gets pleased.
But the pinpoint dot is just too easy, why even include ironsights and no magnification scopes if you can get pinpoint accuracy when hipshooting?
My response to this is that I'm sure that most people that prefer to play 3rd Person want it to stay that way, instead of having to go into 1st Person to aim.
It is maybe not so realistic to have a precise 3rd Person crosshair, but after all, 3rd Person itself is not realistic and so isn't the current one either.
I don't really see why they would want us to go into 1st Person to shoot, considering that the majority of players prefer 3rd Person. But everyone has their opinions.
Personally I can still get pretty good accuracy within 100 or 200 yards with the new crosshairs, beyond that you would need to utilise ironsights or a scope. Which makes sense to me, looking down the ironsights reduces your movement speed in game for example so it comes down to combat tactics and fire control. IMO that is good stuff, and pretty realistic in general terms.
In close range combat the current ironsights are more than enough to represent hipshooting accuracy, it works well enough for that circumstance and I believe that is one of its main purposes.
Yes that is mostly my opinion, but the idea that you can do everything from 3rd person camera isn't what they were going for, the separation of first and third person severs is a way of appeasing 1st person only players, not separating the 1st and 3rd person aspects from eachother entirely.
