looting go to the smaller locations on the map, the less sexy areas,.
Gather apples and berries.
Hunt , gather stones and materials make bow hunt

Not particularly, food spawns in lottsa place no rhyme or reason. Make sure you always check clothing you'll find stuff in em :)

Head to towns up away from the coast. Coastal towns usually get picked clean pretty quickly.
Chickens are also a pretty easy way to get some meat to cook, check the tutorials on building a fire and cooking meat.

Apples and northern towns. When I'm up around Green Mountain, I always go to Rogovo and Pogorevka to look for food.

Try to find some seeds (pumpkin seeds are the best), grab a garden hoe/shovel etc. and look for a quite place, then create your own farm. If you plant the seeds you´ll have to wait for about 20 minutes, after that your crops are ready to harvest. Try planing the seeds while it rains so you don´t need to water manually.

Once you harvest your first patch of crops you´ll never be hungry again since you can cut out seeds from your farmed crops and start over again whenever you want

i usually dont bother with apples as it takes too freaking long. ill find 5 cans of food in the time it takes to find two apples on a tree full of apples...

If you plan to stick around the coast i would recommend Skalisty island, most ppl dont go there and food is VERY easy to come by on the island. Take the swim over Skalisty Proliv and run to the castle ruins, there are two giftshops and some wooden stairs that usually have bags of rice etc... then take the little road leading out of the castle and there is resturant, keep following the road and you should come across a deer stand loot that and keep moving till the road forks. Follow the road towards the coast and not the ruins and there are two houses and a well, remmember to look through the boats, often have raincoats with stuff in them, make your way to the last house and go to the lighthouse, sometimes items are glitched into the base of the tower so hit tab inside it and also go ontop. Behind the tower there is a shed look through that and follow the road back but keep hugging the coast to your right till you see the some ruins go there and head to the last house on the road. There is also a house on the tip west of the main castle, just follow the road from the radio tower.
