AK-74 or AKM?

I'm debating on which weapon i should choose to use, i know AKM as more stopping power but i know it also has higher recoil compared to AK-74. Looking for a medium-short range weapon, im more of an assault guy than a sniper.

I have a 75rnd Drum, 3 mags, and 80 spare ammunition lmao, over 300 rounds for the 74 too. I have the option to pick and choose, just need help finding out the one i should use.

7.62 would have more stopping power. but nothing wrong with 5.45

If you have the 75 round drum go akm. In most cases are he am would beat the 74, however both are relatively similar weapons.

The AK-74 is much less accurate than the AKM- otherwise known as the AK-47

the AKM is a higher caliber with better accuracy. the ak74 is less accurate and smaller caliber but shoots at a higher velocitry. both are good guns just depends on the situation you are in or the role of a squad you like to play as.

Just pick one that feels better to you. This is DayZ..1-2 shots from any weapon will drop someone.

AKM has ripper recoil, use it wisely in ranged encounters.

Ak74 is better imo, just because the recoil isn't that high, it's still pretty strong aswell. The only thing speaking for the akm imo is the drum. If you can get an ak101, it's arguably the best assault rifle in the game.

I have been searching and searching for an AKM mag. If I had to choose I would sit that AK-74 on the ground in the open and shoot whoever stops at it.

Quick question mate. Can you read? I said ak101>ak74/akm and ARGUABLY the best assault rifle. I never said I'd take it over the m4, I know for sure I'll take an aug over the m4. Imo the aks have better sights with the kashtan and pso optics. No close combat optics tho, hope there will be one soon.Now you can say kashtan is bad but it's not the scope that's bad. It's you that can't work with it.

I use the Kashtan on my akm that looks like an LMG, if i just put a long range optic on it i think it would just be hard to kill someone from medium-short range
