Try killing Steam.exe under Task Manager > Processes. Then try my original instructions to re-install Steam.
According to steam you are in game right now.
Im not...its running in the background but it wont let me kill the task of DayZ
Maybe it's a virus/malware running as "Day.exe" lol
I am an administrator, and it is not malware. The last time I played DayZ it froze and I had to kill the task. I am sure that had to do with this.
Sure, but it sounds like the DayZ.exe is running at Windows startup for some reason. Do you have Steam launch when you first boot up? If so, try turning that off so you can try my re-install procedure.
Can you turn that pc off, then use another system, laptop, tablet or phone to log into steam via web and see if it still shows you as playing DayZ?
Login via the steam web page, not the application.
So basically if I want to play DayZ, I had best be ready to restart my PC afterwards.
EDIT: It also does NOT show up in my task manager either, just like yourself.
