server slots help

ok so i was looking into rented a server but was confused with 1 thing, were it says game slots, does that mean how many players can join, so for expample if i just pick 30 it will only allow the server to have 30 players?

i think thats what it means has i know server are from 30-40 and when you go to rent a server it only has between 30-40 slots so i presume each slots is a player.
