WTF? Does anyone else see a black and white flash if they are shot at?

Was at Balota airfield and creeping round the control tower when my screen went black and white for a sec. I assumed someone was sniping me, but I didn't hear any shots, and it didn't look like I took any damage, no blood or change in my health levels (and none of my gear was damaged).

So do we now see a black and white screen for a sec, if someone shots at you (but doesn't actually hit you)??

And in case anyone was wondering, yes I legged it and was shot dead a few hundred meters down the runway, heading for the barracks. So there must have been a sniper somewhere out there, as I heard the (Mosin) killing shot.
